The changes in the new update have me so pissed off right now. Prologue cut content for absolutely no reason while a skip button existed with it’s own cutscene that did a good job of replacing it, volatiles getting nerfed (now I feel like having them not instantly start a chased was actually the perfect solution for their balancing but damage debuff was unnecessary), and while I am one who is curious about the original ideas for the game, I’m far from obsessed with the idea of making the game look as close to the original concept as possible. I’m not an E3 dying light 2 truther, it actually infuriates me the obsession with it as if the original ideas in itself would’ve fixed the game alongside the disdain for colour in the environments. The first game looked that way and made sense because it was the start of the end, it suited it realistic and thematically, the second game is still very apocalyptic in look but it’s a lot more hopeful overall in theme and realistically it’s been so long that nature is making a comeback—we do not have to be allergic to the colour green chat, especially with what is effectively radiation making shit glow and causing insane levels of growth.

I will admit some things don’t look as sun bleached as they should, but just straight up removing all vibrancy for the same muted colours is very annoying and comes off as less put into the environments (obviously the yellow paint is its own thing and I don’t care about that), even if it’s mostly the gritty filter I’m pretty sure there are some permanent changes regardless of the game filters used. Also I don’t give a fuck about lighting changes when it’s still a png sun and moon, which Is also a big reason why I don’t care about making dl2 look like it did at E3 because they can’t even get the simple sauce of the very premise from the first game put into it.
