i also think the main thing here is the immediate like nervousness/hesitation to take on the role that touga has wanted and worked for this whole time (and will continue to work toward until the end), in the moment when akio is offering it. i think touga's character is the most interesting when we see that he has been (is still?) on both sides of the power dynamic. then we can compare him to utena and anthy, and also contrast him with them to see how being a man changes how you can play the game... akio wouldn't offer utena (another wannabe prince) the option to drive, because she is a girl.
