Troll Doll Guardian

Went to LA for the weekend for ren faire and also Harajuku day in LA.

Wanted to pass by Club Disintegration because the DJ put me onto Suburbia by Pet Shop Boys about 3 years ago and it'd be cool to see her full set when not acting as a guest DJ.

Anyway, harajuku day's theme this month was EGL and we were driving into the city same day. Entered the fashion show very last minute as signups closed by the time we arrived into Little Tokyo, but the organizer was kind and merciful. Ended up placing 2nd with this fit, surprising given how prevalent sweet and classic styles were at this meetup. Definitely was inspired by deathrock more than visual kei but I do think my coord was read more as a mix of vkei and lolita than deathrock and lolita but that's fine. The distressed elements tried putting it into the skirt and originally had layered fishnets for the arms but it ended up being too warm and uncomfortable for driving several hours in.

In any case, the photography above was done by mambtastic photography, who is not active on social media. He did a wonderful job though and I enjoyed talking about the elements of the coord I made.

Day after we went to the ren faire which was fun as usual. Got beautiful sea blue ceramic bowl and a matching mug for home use. Will be excellent to eat large quantities of soup out of.

And also this brooch. Particularly attracted me because of the screw finial at the end. The finial doesn't come off with a light tug, it has to be unscrewed, so that convinced me.
