Like there’s three ways this could go:

1. Soldier can actually see, just very poorly. The visor just enhances his ability to see things, so they’re just basically like glorified old man glasses. He can easily take that shit off.

2. He is completely blind, in which case no amount of visual enhancements would help him. You would have to bypass his eyes completely and have the visor send images directly into his brain via connecting the visor’s wires into a chip embedded into his skull that connects the wires to the optical nerve/tract and translates the messages into something the brain can use. In this case taking the visor off would be extremely painful and extremely bloody.

3. Same as above only the wires are replaced with wireless signals. This would allow him to take the visor off, but the signal could potentially be interrupted. An EMP would take him out, lots of interference would cause his sight to flicker or cut out for periods of time. On the other hand, even if he took off his visor, he would still be able to see through the visor’s point of view.
