Remember when joining fandom as a younger person meant lurking for a bit and figuring out the vibe and etiquette instead of coming in on day one and calling people weirdos for liking weirdo shit in the weirdo factory.

The year is 2020. Cole Sprouse is getting married. The bride, when she is supposed to say āI do,ā instead says āIT WAS JUST A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT, HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?ā and storms off. It is the fifth time this has happened. Such is life for Cole Sprouse.

It's waterproof. It's windproof. It's lightweight and durable. And it's made from the intestines of two bears, painstakingly cleaned and sew
I really wanted to know more about this, especially how the water proof stitching works. Here's more information on this project, and hopefully more in the future!
This is amazing! I need to make a note to play around with that water proof stitch technology soon.
June Pardue has a video on YouTube demonstrating the waterproof stitch!
The waterproof stitch is interesting; an insulating layer of dry grass twist between a running stitch and a whip stitch. A smart solution using simple techniques and basic implements. I really love that the ornamentation is applied as the garment is being made - so no additional time is required - and the fringe neither damages the sealed membrane of intestine during construction nor would it tear anything if it caught on something later.
When they say no part of an animal is wasted, this is what they mean.
I'd like to talk about this book a minute. This is 15x06, when we see Cas again after he and Dean have... guess what? A Lover's Quarrel. Just like it says on the cover of this book.
I'm quite certain this book is a prop. Book covers do not look like that. Assuming with little doubt that this is a prop, that someone made with intent, then the message it sends if you notice it is absolutely intentional. Thus...
Destiel is canon.
Now we can argue whether or not Cas' feelings are reciprocated all day long ā Dean never answered ā but by this book alone... Destiel is IN the canon.
Because, if you ask me, it takes two lovers to quarrel. Dictionary definition agrees: "An argument between two people who are romantically involved."
I'm sold.
#Even if it wasn't a prop they made its a CHOICE she could have read literally anything #The script says āwould rather be reading her HISTORICAL ROMANCE NOVELā and I cant #destiel is canon (via @blueeyesblueties)
I recommend reading meta from when these episodes were airing, everyone pointed out everything like this (that the fandom resurgence crying "queerbait" has since tried to gaslight us out of seeing) and explained how it was all deliberate and calculated queercoding efforts against network censorship they communicated was happening, because that is what media literacy in this situation simply is
I'd like to add on to this some quotes from Jerry Wanek (head of production design on spn) and others who worked in the props and art department, from an interview in an issue of the Supernatural Magazine (I really recommend reading the whole article!):
One of the extra touches that appear in every motel room are the postcards. āWe do a different postcard for every motel,ā [Lee Anne] Elaschuk (graphic designer) confirms. āFor example, if we're in a Missouri fishing lodge, on the postcard Iāll put a bait shop, cave tours, and a taxidermy service. Some of it we get pretty tongue-in-cheek...."
The one downside to creating such amazingly immersive sets is thereās no way everything is going to make it onto film. āIn pretty much every single episode something I loved designing doesnāt get seen,ā Wanek reveals. I donāt watch dailies anymore. [...] Early on in my career, I was watching a show that I was really proud of, and it was like, āOh, man, they didnāt see thisā or āThey didn't see that.' I really didn't want to get into the mindset of āTheyāre not going to see it anyway, why take it this far?ā As soon as you do that, theyāre going to focus on the comer you didnāt finish, and then youāre going to feel like a jerk."
"We know we have a lot of diehard fans out there that love to see the little stuff,ā notes Elaschuk. āEven though they may not see the level of detail we put into it, itās there [...] We really try and get the details right - and itās also a lot of fun for us.ā
Elaschuk loves it when the fans pick up on these elements. āTell the fans to look for the little stuff,āā she instructs, ābecause weāre always putting it in there for them. Have fun looking for clues, like in Bad Day At Black Rock we put clues of the rabbitās foot, basically anything to do with rabbits, layered throughout the episode. Always look for the little things, because theyāre there - we make them in the art department.ā
Also I can't find it right now but I do remember a quote about how all the lore books are made by the art department.
These things are definitely intentional artistic choices. Never forget how much of a collaborative medium television is. Everything plays a part in constructing meaning. It's not just the writing and acting. It's the set dressing, props, lighting, editing, music, everything. The summation of all these parts create the text.

just saw a deactivated mutual's post on my dash. that's my dead wife's corpse you're all dragging around
I also reblog this guys dead wife.
Thinking about a girl I grew up with who spun her dog's fur into yarn, then knitted gloves out of the yarn and how all the other kids made fun of her mercilessly for it.
And how she's now used those gloves for over thirty winters and each time she puts them on, she gets to pet her beloved dog's fur even though Ginger is long gone. And how even though her bones have long since been swallowed by the earth, Ginger is still protecting her owner from the cold.
Just an ancient pact, passed down from the earliest dogs that slept beside humans to keep us warm, continuing on for decades after one of their deaths.
