it’s kinda funny bc the videos of grace hanging out w rocky is the happiest eva stratt had ever seen him. like imagine guilts been haunting you and the laws been hunting you and for decades you have no idea if it’s been all for nothing and then….. first clip you see is the scientist and a sentient rock going “this is me and my BOI ✌️”
i really do love that, whether by grace's design or not, the first video eva watched is him introducing his bff and the alien making an earth pop culture reference. aka in between solving the whole "our stars are being eaten by astrophage" problem they've clearly been having movies nights -- something that eva is delighted by
I imagine Stratt is delighted about this for multiple reasons:
The simplest: Grace is clearly doing at least okay, and even if he has no human company out there, he isn't completely alone with just the spaceship computer to talk to;
A friendly alien rock spider casually referencing a human movie is kind of objectively delightful, really;
Stratt's whole deal is that she loves humanity and wants humanity to continue existing as long as possible; this video is proof that not only have humans reached out their hands to the stars -- they left their fingerprints on those stars in doing so;
What was that again, copyright lawyers??? You simply don't think that the comfort and happiness of three heroes who chose to die for all of humanity are a good enough reason to gift them with pirated copyrighted materials??? Well, how about the fact that said copyrighted materials ending up playing a VITAL role in diplomatic relations with another intelligent civilization, which in turn DIRECTLY led to the salvation of all humanity???
