-using myfitnesspal and duolingo to monitor my eating habits and learn different languages:) so cool
-finally finishing up at community college ugh
-my parents are doing well and im able to show up for them in different ways when they need support.
-no more critters !! No itching, no waking up at night paranoid (diatomaceous earth is magic)
-growing familiar and comfortable with my bf in unexpected ways
-always making space for myself to introspect and feel my feelings
-my friends are angels on earth

i keep trying to memorize every detail of the moments i live in. in the soreness of my legs from standing so long at a concert, the chill of the night, the patterns of a tablecloth, the oily texture in my mouth after eating fried bananas. i keep trying to memorize the feelings, the quiet contentedness, the laughter, the excitement. i keep trying to memorize the people, their smiles, the way they speak, what makes them laugh. i’m constantly on the cusp of the next part of my life and that’s just so.. strange. but it makes it so much easier to find happiness no matter what’s happening to me, in a way? because i’m already kind of looking at life with those rose-colored glasses of nostalgia, simply because i know these are times i’ll never be able to live again, and these are people i might not always have, and that makes it so much easier to appreciate everything i might miss later.

Been having insomnia for some days now, seems to be a restlessness in me lately, heart palpitations and random aches. Inside im as optimistic and inspired as ever !! But the fatigue makes sense. so much has happened.
After our 3 month mark my partner and i began having some hurtful misunderstandings. I began to withdraw and retreat into myself. Isolation helps me cope and understand things better, i told him. (He was convinced that we would break up). Then lockdown happened. Okay, it’s okay, quarantine is second nature to me. Then it was ramzan, or maybe the bug bites happened first. Then of course finals. More and more stressful reasons i couldnt see him. But we talked everyday. Some hesitations but ultimately lots of love and communication.
In this heavy-hearted period void of touches i saw our differences more clearly. His abundance of free time, his to-do list oriented form of self-care, his undying ambition and outgoing independence. And me with my indestructible attachment to my parents and constant daydreaming and feeling a little haunted. I’ve learned so much from him already. We really are like yin & yang.
Been wanting to write a poem about this period. The ideas come to me in blurry pieces but i’ll attempt to translate them into words:
A time of spiritual discipline
Skin crawling sensations
Aloneness
Weakness
Yet
Duty
Sanctuary
A ring of white powder around me
Bleeding
Whispering prayers
Falling in love all over again

“i’m so tired of trying to say things to people and having them not listen ... i just simply will not talk to you unless i think you’re listening to me. i just simply won’t - i can’t.”
Fiona Apple - Sessions at West 54th (Live in New York, 1997)
A woman is drying incense sticks, a process in making incense. Vietnamese believe that incense is a tool to connect the living with the spirits. When people burn incense, they can talk to spirits and pray.
