Ok hear me out (this might not be a crazy hear me out), but Shane is definitely Ryan’s emotional support person. Like sure he does investigations and stuff but mostly he’s there to ground Ryan and make jokes. He doesn’t take things seriously on purpose so Ryan can feel comfortable and not get lost in the sauce. Shane also pushes Ryan out of his comfort zone with their investigations at locations and in their own special way is supportive of each other when they do this.
