You ever read a scene that's extremely weird but in such a...mundane way that it sticks with you far more than a blatantly weird scene would?
In Slaves to Darkness, there's this entire drawn out scene where Maloghurst is washing his hands after a ritual sacrifice, hears someone enter the room behind him, automatically assumes it's one of the Mournival members and starts monologuing at them for AGES while also cycling through guesses as to who it could be. Does he look up even once? No.
After going on for way too long talking at who he thinks is Horus Aximand, he's like "Or is that Tormageddon? Your silence gives you away, brother! [monologues for another 5mins]". Still doesn't look up.
Then he repeats the process with Kibre, all the while asking himself "Why aren't they answering? So weird".
When he FINALLY turns around, it's a warp-induced hallucination of Horus Lupercal who quickly vanishes
But the point is: the scene makes no fucking sense, no one behaves this way. My suspension of disbelief is being challenged far more by this than by any of the other sci-fi dark wizard shit because...why? Why write it this way??
No one would ever monologue AT LENGTH and AT MULTIPLE GUYS without looking over ONCE. Maloghurst has just been snuck up on by THREE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS in just as many chapters, moreover fuckin Lorgar and Zardu Layak are on board doing schemes, all while Maloghurst is desperately trying to hide confidential info from them.
Who the fuck doesn't stop after the first few minutes of monologuing to look over their shoulder like "Oh shit maybe I should confirm I'm not spilling the beans to the sketchiest guy imaginable--". Who doesn't look up out of pure curiosity alone?? IT'S SO WEIRD IN SUCH A DUMB WAY.
John French wanted a monologue, he wanted a dramatic moment and he was willing to write the dumbest nonsensical bullshit to make it happen. That's all it is.

okay so spock (the alien in blue) essentially goes into heat. like literal heat like an animal. Anyway, spock’s in bloodlust in this episode and must go back to vulcan to have sex with his finace (or someone. but its supposed to be his fiance) or he’ll literally die. this is called pon farr and some backstory spock is half human and thought he wouldnt go through pon farr so he abandoned his HOT fiance to fuck around in space except oops pon farr happens so. he and kirk (in yellow getting his tits cut open, he’s also spocks captain and best friend) and their other friend mccoy go to vulcan so he can have sex with his fiance or get married or whatever so he doesn’t die. but then spock’s fiance (t’pring) is like no i dont want to marry spock i want to have him fight someone to death (which she can do) and spock at this point is fully in the ‘blood lust’ and is basically not in his right mind and doesnt get what’s happening. and t’pring picks kirk to be her ‘champion’ in the fight (her logic is that if spock dies in the fight she doesnt have to marry him and if kirk dies, spock will be so upset with her he won’t marry her anymore anyway). anyway kirk doesnt know that its a fight to the death and so he’s like of course i’ll do this fight if it’ll help spock and then he gets told it’s a fight to the death and he goes WHAT and right afterwards spock slices his titties open like in the gif. also eventually spock and kirk roll around in the sand and kirk fakes his death and THIS somehow knocks spock out of his blood lust and he goes back to the ship super sad bc he’s killed his ‘best friend’ only to discover kirk’s alive and we see one of his biggest smiles of the series (a big deal bc spock is vulcan and they dont show emotion). anyway this aired as the season opener in 1967. know your history and all that happy pride

His jobs are: shaping bodies, healing wounds (mental physical spiritual), lounging around being as fat as a house, and stealing geneseed from other legions he is stationed with in order to [REDACTED] and increase his psychic power!
Upon first witnessing his Primarch, Nipharia clawed his own eyes out, knowing he would never see another thing as beautiful as Lucien. Some say he traded these eyes for greater power over the body with some nameless entity, but perhaps it is just a rumor given how Nipharia seems to explore biomancy like a natural sixth sense.
Often, he forms stinging tentacles and barbs on his own body, using them to inject toxins and paralytics. For foes, these are cruel and painful. For patients and willing lovers, they are preferred over the finest medical sedative, for he makes them slip into pleasant brainless dreams of peace and comfort, totally immune to pain.
He performs many roles for his Legion, but most often he aids his brothers in fitting their luscious bodies into power armor by shaping them through biomancy. Additionally, due to their home systems proximity to raw warp corruption and radiation from their twin suns, he will heal and repair mutated flesh, stripping it free and grafting new healthy cells on, perfectly matched due to his ability to see and manipulate DNA.
He’s older, having served in the Iridiates for a very long time. He takes pride in this and often takes a very maternal and caring role over the younger Astartes. But…don’t ever ask him exactly HOW old he is…
He actually hates having to turn his fat to muscle and constantly puts in requests to his Master of the Forge for more personalized armor, but for a man who changes his baseline form every few months…well. Not even such a loyal apothecary can have every whim fulfilled.
