"Where" is a place, like where you are. "Were" is the past tense of "to be," like you were reading this list. "We're" is the contraction of "we are."

"Their" is a thing or concept belonging to a person, like their book or their justified anger. "There" is a place.

"To" is a conjunction, or a word used to make other words work. For example, you don't "go the store," you go to the store. "Too" is either an intensifier indicating an excess of something (like "too dark," "too cold," "too long"), or a word meaning "also" (like "I want to go, too"). They are not interchangeable.

--"a couple" is explicitly two. "A few" is three to five (unless you're using it for comedic effect, like describing a horde of ten thousand orcs as "a few").

And finally, a few that don't get discussed all that much these days but they'll make me very happy if you know them:

--"less" is for abstract, "fewer" is for concrete. I get less and less happy when I have fewer and fewer books.

--"can" is for ability, "may" is for permission, and the two have mostly become synonymous BUT if you're writing an old or uptight character, or a period piece, that change is recent enough you should still do it the "right" way.

I have one fewer books = wrong.

I have one less book = correct!

same with many and much: much is for continuous objects (I have much water), many is for discrete objects (I have many books).

Also as of June 7 2026, creators from the Minecraft server Skyblock Kingdoms (sbk) have come forward about “irrevocable damage [Avidmc and Marma1ade] have caused to SBK and its friends” (quote from Sbk statement on twitter) and have removed them from the server.

Yeah, I have, and same here. Like jesus. I can't imagine how awful it must've been for everyone around them to live in this fractured, manufactured reality that aimed to drive people apart. There's so many statements from people all around twitter right now and I am more and more just. Appaled idk. Goes without saying that I won't be aiming to print my postcanon vsmp comic, still keeping it up, still super proud of it and i'll cherish vsmp and avid's character within it, it's still fiction, but i hope to never hear of those two as ccs again. For anyone curious what the hell is going on, super loud on twitter rn, a lot of quote retweets to the skyblock statement have details of everyones perspectives, attaching legundo's on here because i know people might ask for context

No matter how many "i told you sos" youll see on twitter or anywhere else, please dont feel like you should've known better when the whole point of the shitstorm is that people got manipulated, intentionally. Youll see the sentiment of "dont idolise content creators" repeated, and it seems so obvious from the get go, but I know it often only hits once something of this severity happens in relation to a creator you love.

It hurts and it sucks and however you decide to react to it is your business and your business alone. Keep creating, keep loving, or take a break, focus on something else entirely, whatever you do, there is no correct or right way to deal with putting so much effort and care into stories of people who hurt others, not when theyre already off the cc sphere anyway.
