bc I feel like we've got lots of fic (and also canon) of dead wife baelor haunting the narrative.

but what if we had some dead wife dunk?

like dunks ridden off to war, but baelor has to stay behind in Kings Landing and govern (don't ask me why this would happen it just does okay), and maybe the war is getting a little dicey, and dunk is like idk if I'm going to make it back, so he enlists egg to help him write a letter to baelor, and i am specifically thinking of the part from the soundtrack where it's like "if the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they love I shall always be with you in the brightest day and darkest night" but like a little clumsier bc dunk isn't exactly a poet.

anyways egg is side eyeing the shit out of dunk the whole time he's writing this, bc that's a little much from a knight to his prince, but dunk never gets in his feels so egg doesn't want to ask, so he just writes that shit down.

and so the letter gets sent off

and then there's a battle, and dunk dies

and news of this reaches baelor, and he's obviously pretty torn up about it, but nobody knew about him and dunk so like he has to shove that shit down and pretend it's just like any other loyal knight dying. like very sad, but not personal.

but then like two days later the letter that dunk wrote arrives, and like cue baelor reading it alone in his solar. like fuck the mental image of baelor just wallowing in his grief and he can't say anything about it to anyone so he has to deal with it all alone, and like a couple of fat tears plonking on the letter and smudging the ink. this is all most delicious to me.

anyways so then egg would get back, bc with dunk dead they immediately ship his ass back to kings landing, and he goes to baelor and is like...dunk wasn't just your sworn sword was he?

and egg is grieving too bc that's his father/brother figure, and maybe baelor takes egg on as his own squire after that

and I imagine baelor carries that letter everywhere for the rest of his damn life.

anyways I don't have a ton of details for this one, but that's the vibe, a hundred gold dragons to anyone that writes it and makes me cry lol

Being sick fucking sucks but on the bright side not having to go to class means I finally got this knight yaoi edit out of my system.
