THEN the stranger steps forward, which is even more disorienting, then removes his glasses. At this point he’s frozen. Maybe he’s wary enough of this obviously strong stranger that he feels he needs to be careful with his steps. And then—

BITE.

Phatsa’s arms go limp. Has he given up? What’s going on with that?

Ever since I started working in the entertainment industry, I've never forgotten a sound I heard once.

When Sun met Jay, his brother has just been murdered and, quickly after that, he also buried his mother. He was breathing but Sun was already dead inside, believing that what happened to his family was his karma.

When Jay met Sun, he came to country to bury his mother, the only other person who cared about him aside from his Uncle. Jay has never fully grieved despite losing a member of his already tiny family.

They both went into that fight, hoping to feel something other than apathy. And in a sense, the deaths of their loved ones gave them a gift, though it wasn't that obvious while it was happening.

Sun basically: thanks for keep fucking me while I was crying and sobbing and breaking down on you. Needed that.

But also wild that Sun is paying Jay. Turns their little transaction agreement around. Makes it look like he used Jay for sex. Which he did, they both did. But I mean Jay was demanding "something fun" from him first. But also Sun was literally broke and worked 24/7 for every scent, yet he still did that. To put his wall back up between him and the stranger he just had sex with, and let himself go with, to allow himself to feel the pain and frustration and guilt he locked up too long but also hurt / punished himself over it.

.... and that's how Jay fell in love with him.

I've spent so many episodes wondering how the hell they ended up furry fucking and never could I have imagined it was supposedly Sun paying back Jay for ruining his fun.

Absolutely, completely deranged. These two really are made of the same stuff. Both accounting for debts in ways that are absolute nonsense just to keep whatever is happening between them on a level that is comfortable enough for two damaged, emotionally shutdown people to experience moments of feeling something with each other. All while they both try to make other people pay for being assholes.
