Protect my vision of Temari pls&thanks
Hello, honest opinion here.
I don’t like it when fanfics portray Temari as a hot-headed tsundere who’s just on Shikamaru’s ass all the time.
(I admit, it’s funny, but not if it’s not in the right context. This could perhaps have happened after Shikamaru broke up with her over something idotic he did/was thinking about)
I feel like she’s a woman with lot of compassion and smarts. She can be tough, cruel and merciless, but chooses to be so only in battle. And after the war, she can be seen, literally, letting her hair down. Look at that gentle flowing fringe and relaxed pair of ponytails. This girl is chill.
And i don’t think she’s really cut off from her emotions or puts as a tough face as most people think. She analyses the situation and adjusts herself accordingly. Like when she punched Shikamaru in Shikamaru Hiden- that was blatant display of emotion, and the whole misunderstanding in Konoha Hiden, that was just how a resourceful girl who had been thrown into a life of war, assassins and battle instead of boys, drama and love would react. She was shy, and humble to accepting that she had been wrong about it too.
If anything, I’d say that her weaknesses are that she can be too confident in her abilities at times, and possesses more bloodlust than would be desirable in an opponent. I also feel like she’d be the wet blanket at times, because she would not participate in dumb competitions or games.
Perhaps she’d even be a little insecure about letting people get close to her because she doesn’t want to leave her or her family vulnerable to anyone or anything.
Also, I’d like to say everyone who believes in the tsundere stereotype probably thinks she’s a softie on the inside, but i’m gonna call it and say she loves to be in control in bed and would defo be on top. Hey, if i was a lazy strategist like shikamaru, I’d let her do whatever she wanted to me.
(I gotta admit this is my favourite picture of shikatema because i can picture them getting into a fight on a mission after the war and this being a battle after a long time, their conversation doing something like: Shikamaru saying something like, “ugh, let’s finish this quick” or “Try not to enjoy this too much” and Temari just unable to control herself, saying “I can’t promise you anything”)
Which brings me to my next point, it kills me when people misread their relationship. Don’t forget that they got together on a foundation of mutual respect- she didn’t corner him into a wall, and he didn’t just fall into a trap. They were pulled together by the universe because they were their own equal matches, and they stayed together because of their striking similiarities and complementing differences. They’re a good team with the most mature and realistic relationship- heck, I’d even call it my goals.
Eventhough wouldn’t be the type to show PDA, but i can imagine the one time they get caught, both of them would blush and Temari would walk out of Shikamaru’s hands with a smile on her face. Shikamaru would of course just say nothing and walk the other way, pretending like it never happened.
Temari is just such an awesome character and i wouldn’t say she is over the top badass, she is just extraordinarily intelligent, decisive, resourceful, kind, passionate, fair and just so so so cool. Major respect to Kishimoto for creating a realistic female character i can look up to.
