Have a dumb meme I drew, based on this:
{Open Starter}
Moonstone walked in the direction of the glimmering, looming hall, the area around her near empty. In one hand, she carried an iridescent, cloudy white bubble, its contents blurry. Her other hand was obediently folded behind her back.
The shades of pearlescent white and shining silver reflected around her, making her form’s usual shades of light blue seem near-white. With a sinking feeling, she heard a loud cheering- one of the diamonds had likely returned. She quickly summoned a small, blue screen, checking everything- she had never been notified of this. With a shaky breath, the screen dispersed in a cloud of blue light, and Moonstone continued on her way. Maybe there was a reason she had never been notified, maybe her current job was just enough to get her out of this…
Rainbow rushed out of the way, hidding behind a doorway to avoid being seen by moonstone, unfortunately his umbrella sticks out and trips moonstone. He practically squeaks in panic as he tries to scramble out of her sight
Moonstone shrieked as she was thrown forward, the bubble in her hands tumbling forward with a dull rattle. She gasped, looking towards it, before sighting the Umbrella.
“Whose There?” She tried to sound imposing, but her voice shook too much.
Rainbow peeked from around a corner
He laughs nervously
“o-okay, don’t panic!” The fusion holds his hands out defensively
“I don’t want any trouble”
He slowly reaches for his umbrella that’s tangled underneath moonstone
Moonstone stood up, stepping behind the umbrella. She swiped a hand across her gem, a bright, crisp ray of white light materializing in her hand. She protectively glanced towards the white bubble, it’s yellow-violet contents floating silently.
rainbow leans dramatically to look at the bubble “oh! that’s probably important isn’t it?” he looks around “we’re you delivering something?” he bares a wide grin, gesturing lightly at the bubble with his umbrella
Moonstone defensively took a step towards the bubble.
“My friend-” her voice hitched, remembering where she was.
“An Ametrine I know was cracked by a rogue Quartz soldier- I’m trying to get to one of the chambers to get her fixed, but half the hallways are closed,” she said, the ray of light in her hand letting out a dull hum.
“Oh!” He put his hands to his face in shock. “I’m sorry! If you’d like I can try and help you get around in this maze of a building” he gestures to the gem on his forehead “I think pearl knows this place pretty well”
Moonstone had hardly even noticed the gem’s appearance, but now she took it in- they definitely weren’t from homeworld, given their (albeit, a little fabulous) appearance. She took notice of the two gems, internally surprised, though not that they were a cross-gem fusion on homeworld- more or less, that she had stumbled across a gem that was possibly in the same situation as her.
“That’d be amazing, if you can spare the time,” she scooped up the bubble, and though the ray of light remained in her hand, it began to flicker just the tiniest bit.
“of course lass! let’s have a bloody brilliant time!” he flails his umbrella around with excitement. “my name’s rainbow quarts by the way, but most people call me rainbow” he smiles as he grabs moonstone’s arm while he leads the way “what’s yours?”
The corners of her mouth slightly flickered into a smile. The bubble in her hand gave the faintest yellow-purple spark of light, as though delighted.
“I’m Moonstone 7xY,” she said, trying to discretely slide her arm away. “Your jacket is quite lovely, by the way.”
rainbow notices the slight discomfort on moonstone’s face and lets go of her arm “why thank you moonstone!!” he smiles back. “so… if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to your friend there?” he tries to look to make sure he isn’t stepping his boundaries.
Moonstone’s smile shrank a bit, taking in a rattling breath.
“I was having her and a pearl I know help me organize some files and reports of mine, when my supervisor- a water lily agate- had to talk to Ametrine,” she paused, her smile finally fading. “All I heard was yelling, so I… kind of assumed the worst, knowing my supervisor.” Moonstone had to contain a shudder, the memories a stain on her mind.
rainbow covers his mouth a sorrowful expression draping his face. “well that won’t due, let’s save your friend asap!” he grabs her hand and straddles his umbrella “rainbow quarts powers, activate!!” suddenly moonstone and rainbow are propelled forward at top speed! around corners and through doorways until finally, they reach the closest chamber to heal the hurt gem he quickly lets go and turns to smile at you “we’re here!~” he sing-songs
Moonstone wavered on her feet a bit, a little winded. She couldn’t help but laugh- the past few minutes had been quite strange, in her eyes.
“T-thank you,” she said, the bubble in her hand dissolving, to reveal an oval-shaped, half-yellow, half-purple gem that seemed to knowingly shimmer in the light. Moonstone goes to knock on the heavy door, when, strangely, it creaks open, a sliver of light coming from the room.
“What?” Moonstone whispered.
Rainbow moves behind her to try and peek through the door. “Had something happened?” He looks at moonstone and her friend with a questioning glance
Moonstone furrowed her eyebrows, pushing the door open a bit wider. The scene inside the chamber was… at the very least, incredibly strange. A sterile, bleach-white wall was crashed inwards, and a few gems and weapons littered the floor, along with shattered glass and bits of destroyed chambers.
Moonstone gasped; “What happened?” She said to herself.
“oh dear!” he exclaimed, finally getting a look inside the chamber. he took a cautious step inside as he examined the room. “I don’t think we’re the first ones who’v been in here…”
Moonstone stepped inside, glancing around. Save for the proofed guards and attendants, the left side of the room seemed to be fine. Placing Ametrine’s gem within one of the glass chambers, she then turned to the site of disaster.
“It’s so strange,” she muttered. “The crashed wall makes me think it was an accident, but the weapons…”
“A mystery indeed!” He exclaims “do you think we can still fix your friend with all this damage?” He looks over to moonstone
Moonstone glanced back at the glass chambers, a faint blue-ish glow beginning to arise from the glass.
“I think she’ll be fine for now, as long as… whatever did this doesn’t return,” Moonstone guessed, once again summoning a long, thin ray of light from her gem. Save for the tumbling of some rubble, the site seemed to be still and almost empty.
he puts a hand on her shoulder “how are you feelin’ luv’?” he tries to make eye contact with her. fighting back his urge to be silly
Moonstone met his eyes, but not before taking another glance at Ametrine’s gem. Her head felt a bit light, and it took effort to keep herself from falling over.
“Honestly?” She said, “Quite dazed.” A sudden noise caught Moonstone’s attention, and she noticed a banded, green-white-brown gem slide off from the rubble and hit the ground with a clatter. Picking it up, she slapped a hand over her mouth to swallow a shriek, and nearly dropped the gem.
“what! what is it!?” he tried his best to whisper, but his volume was barely below a yell. he tries not to panic by running his hands through his hair
The gem slipped from Moonstone’s hands and she backed away, the noise interrupting the once silent room.
“N-no, she can’t be in here-” Moonstone panickedly muttered. She quickly swiped Ametrine’s gem from the glass chamber, the crack in it half-healed. “We need to find a different chamber- if my supervisor was here, th-then…” she trailed off.
“wha- I can try my best to lead you to another chamber but you have to tell me what’s wrong…”
Moonstone hesitated a bit before finally speaking.
“My supervisor is quite possibly one of the cruelest gems I’ve ever met,” she whispered, as though scared that a poofed gem could hear her. “If she saw either of us in here with Ametrine, I could hardly image what she would do, and I know how quickly she tends to regenerate.”
he nods “got it, hang on!” he once again grabs her arm and blasts away as fast as he can
Moonstone yelped in surprise, still not used to traveling so fast. So far, Rainbow was quite the interesting gem, and it was a bit fun to meet somebody new after so long of the same routine.
Moonstone held Ametrine’s gem tightly in her one free hand, trying to ignore the fissure in the top of the gem. For just a moment, she could still feel the quartz’s hand in hers, the scrawny gem calming her nerves.
“how about…. here!” he stops sharply, still holding her hand to stop her from falling. “but the door seems to be stuck..” he starts to examine the door
Moonstone untangled her hand from his, walking towards the door. She knocked on the door, watching as a twitchy, young, peach-colored Pearl opened the door. Moonstone’s face cracked into a smile.
“I didn’t know they hired you as an attendant, Peach,” Moonstone mused, watching an orange-pink blush color the small pearl’s face.
“We’re on a semi-lockdown, Moonstone, what do you want?” Peach Pearl snapped, before turning her head to Rainbow Quartz, curled hair slightly tangling with the door handle. “And what exactly are you? One of the defectives that Moonstone took in?”
he gasped and gave a sour look before thinking to himself “yes…” he covers the gemstone on his stomach “I'v been requested to be…trained..to..be useful because of…cutbacks” he lies through his teeth trying not to snap with anger and cause moonstone any trouble
Moonstone glanced back at him, a strange looking crossing her face for a brief moment.
“Peaches,” Moonstone showed her the cracked gem in her hands, “I’m sure your Padparadscha Sapphire would be most unpleased with you if you refused to help the personal guard of a high-class gem.”
The pearl looked confused. “Personal guard…” suddenly, a smirk crossed her features. “Of all gems, I never thought you’d go for a quartz!” She cackled out a quick laugh, before opening the door.
rainbow follows behind moonstone, glaring at the peach pearl as he walks past her
Moonstone handed the gem to peach pearl, who quickly hopped past the lines of glass pillars.
“You really didn’t need to do that,” Moonstone said to Rainbow, her voice barely above a whisper. As much as the curiosity ate away at her for why they were on lockdown, she pushed it down, at least for now.
“I wouldn’t want to cause you any trouble now lov’. it’s no big fuss” he whispered back “don’t worry about it” he settled with standing besides her trying not to fidget
“I know, thank you, it’s just…” Moonstone hung back a bit as they passed a pair of Taaffeites, trying to stay quiet. “I never like using my status to get out of things.”
Moonstone watched as Ametrine’s gem began to float in the smaller chamber, the clouded glass tube giving off a small, high-pitched hum. The room was a tiny bit darker than most rooms on Homeworld, an odd amount of gems within the room.
“So… why exactly are we on partial lockdown?” Moonstone asked Peach.
“A group of new rebels have been going around destroying certain buildings and vandalizing them- nobody knows who they are, but we think they might have an Iris Agate with them, considering how the tend to disappear whenever they destroy something,” Peach Pearl gossiped, slightly smirking. “I’m a little surprised to see that they haven’t mentioned you at all.”
before moonstone could respond rainbow cut in “why would they mention moonstone!” … “I-i mean my moonstone??”
Peach Pearl cawed out a laugh, her voice cutting through the dull hum of gossip and regeneration chambers in the room. “Clearly, you haven’t been around long enough- your Moonstone here is… a little known around here for befriending defective, rebellious, and overall troublesome gems,” She cooed, “what a shame- she could’ve been the perfect gem.”
Moonstone’s nails dug deep into her palms as she tried to stay calm and quiet, her face angrily flushing a pastel sky-blue. “Watch your words, Peach.”
“she’s a valid gem no matter what you say!” he gasps and covers his mouth
“uh, I mean.. don’t talk to your superior like that!!” he growls out his words, failing to keep in his anger. he stood for love of oneself and he wasn’t gonna let the pearl have her way
Moonstone gave Rainbow a look as if to say Thank You. She opened her mouth to speak, when, suddenly, there was a ringing noise from the small chamber.
“Oh, thank the stars,” Moonstone sighed, as the glow from the glass dimmed to reveal a healed Ametrine gem. Peach retrieved the gem, handing it to Moonstone. The snarky pearl opened her mouth to speak, when a series of shrieks, the sound of a crash, and a brief sound of what seemed to be shattering glad echoed from the hall.
rainbow got into a fighting stance “what’s going on!” he screech reaching for his umbrella
The pair of Taaffeites shrieked and leapt away from the door, and Moonstone kept a hand over her gem. Walking over to the door, she peaked through a cracked open door, almost gasping at the scene. From what she could see, a wall had caved in, part of a ship crashed through it. Two proofed gems seemed to have had fallen next to one another, and around them were what seemed to be… Oh, Stars, no…
Moonstone loudly shrieked, flinching away from the doors, shaking like a leaf.
“what’s wrong!!” he steps in front of moonstone, hands on her shoulders. he quickly spins on his heals, umbrella at the ready to strike if need be. “say the word and I’ll have us out of here, pronto!”
Moonstone opened the door fully, trying to ignore the turquoise gem shards on the floor. For just a moment, she thought she saw a head of colorful hair just as it disappeared, before brushing it off as her being in shock.
“Are you alright, Moon?” A familiar voice said. Moonstone whipped around, face-to-face with a newly reformed Ametrine.
“Oh! A new friend!” His protective attitude was immediately replaced with happiness at the though of making a new companion
Ametrine turned to the colorful gem.
“Who are you?” She chirped, keeping a gentle hand on Moonstone’s shoulder. Moonstone slid a hand up to her shoulder and intertwined her’s with Ametrine’s, lifting it off of her shoulder.
“you may call me rainbow quarts!” he struck a dramatic pose “or rainbow for short~ and I assume you are amertrine! moonstone mentioned you!” he smiled
Moonstone glanced towards the door, which was still open, though the gems inside had yet to notice what was going on outside.
“Oh, did she?” Ametrine teased moonstone, causing the other to chuckle a bit.
“In all seriousness, I think we should get moving, if there’s been two incidents of this-“ she gestured to the wreckage- “in one day.”
“okay! where to captain!!” he does a small salut with the word captain
Untangling her hand from Ametrine’s, but still staying quite close to her, Moonstone glanced down the other end of the hallway.
“Follow me- I think I might be able to find my way to my office from here,” she said, turning down the hallway. For a few minutes, the hallway seemed empty and devoid of most other gems, so she intertwined her hand with Ametrine’s once more.
rainbow followed close behind, dramatically swiveling his body to look around the halls
“So, where exactly are you from, Rainbow?” Moonstone asked, a bit curious about this new gem. They had seemingly come out of nowhere, though she couldn’t say it was a bad thing, considering how helpful they had been.
“Well, I’m from earth!” He smiled “I’m actually only hear to visit, you see pearl wanted information on how this place was holding up since she’d left” he says matter o’ factly! “I was doing a pretty good job not being noticed.. Until y'know, I tripped you” he rubs the back of his neck
Moonstone winced. “Yeah, I’m sorry about that,” she said, though she suddenly remembered what he had said first.
“What’s it like, on earth? I know about the rebellion from there, but…” she paused, “That’s all I can find in public records.” Ametrine noticed the look on the blue-hued gem’s face, and gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
“Oh, it’s fantastic. The gems there are free! You get to wintess the natural life there grow up and change, such an incredible power they have. The water there is cool and reckless and not just used for the lapis lazuli’s work. Flowers bloom without strict orders!” he takes a breath, then sighs. “It’s a truly wonderful place to live” he perks up “Oh but that’s just me rambling” he claps his hands together to signify he’s done talking
Moonstone stayed quiet, her thoughts stirring. She had always wanted to be free to be affectionate with Ametrine, and homeworld had just been… too much for her. She shuddered at the memories of her Supervisor- oh, what she’d give to never have to hear that gem again.
“It sounds interesting,” Ametrine responded. Moonstone was quite curious about earth… but, stars above, if she were caught trying to leave, she’d be shattered!
“One day I’ll have to take you there haha!” He said as he continued to walk down the hallway. “Either that or I’ll have to keep visiting my two new friends here on homeworld!”
“Y'know…” Moonstone couldn’t help but smile a bit at the idea, as implausible as it was, “That’d be nice… maybe someday.”
Ametrine bounced ahead, cheerful at the sight of a familiar, decorative door. “Here we are,” Ametrine said, “I wonder if Powder Blue is still-”
“Powder Blue is off with one of the ice sapphires,” Moonstone cut in, opening the door a bit to let in the other two gems.
“Powder blue?” He tilts his head in an inquisitive motion. “What are we doing here anywwho?” He smiles
“Powder Blue is a pearl that tends to hang around here- really, quite a sweet gem,” Moonstone sidetracked, before realizing their second question. “Ah, we’re because there’s been two attacks in one day, and I need to check the records on this- it’d be a safer place to be, and I might be able to find a way to get you back to earth.”
“Why that sounds delightful!” Rainbow spouted enthusiastically
Planting a small kiss on Ametrine’s forehead, Moonstone summoned a series of diamond-shaped, transparent blue panels. Rifling through them, she finds something intriguing.
“There’s been a few sightings of the rebels over the past few months, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason behind their attacks… though, with us being on partial lockdown, it would be easier for us to get you home discretely, Rainbow,” Moonstone looked up at the friendly, colorful gem.
“of course” he nods “lead me to victory!” he says, putting his trust in her
“Okay, well… it may not be pleasant, since sneaking around Homeworld can be a bit tricky,” she trailed off. Moonstone turned to Ametrine, before pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
“I’ll be back, love, I promise,” Moonstone said, earning a silent nod from Ametrine. Turning to rainbow Quartz, she opened the door, gesturing for the Eccentric gem to exit with her.
he waves goodbye to ametrine and practically skips behind moonstone. “where are we headed now?”
“Well, Mon Ami,” she drawled, finding that a bit Rainbow’s flamboyance has begun to ware off on her, “With us being on partial lockdown, the air hangars are likely closed- but, with your help, we might be able to sneak in.”
“ah yes! my help!” … “what should I do??” he looks around, doing a complete 360 turn “I don’t know what areas to head two since this place is on a weird lockdown” he gives a weary smile, attempting to stay calm
Moonstone turned around, walking backwards and gesturing with her arms out.
“The Diamonds never really care about this place very much, since it’s so close to the red-line district, so while the rest of homeworld might be on full lockdown, we’re basically just told to stay quiet and not use the ships,” she explained. “Not that most gems follow that protocol, anyways.”
“so what should we do?” he asks “I’ve been away for so long, I don’t remember everything about this place” he flails his arms around with the word everything
“I’ve heard about an abandoned door behind one of the panels in the west wing,” she said, “if I can find it, maybe we can sneak our way into the Air Hangar of the West Wing.”
Moonstone curiously peered at Rainbow. “If you don’t mind me asking- who are you a fusion of, exactly?”
He perked up, “well technically I’m a fusion of a rose quarts gem and a pearl but the rose quarts gem is… half human. It’s complicated realy” he gives a tired smile
Moonstone has to admit, she was a little startled by Rainbow’s words.
“Half human…” she whispered, mostly to herself, though she internally guessed it must have been one of the Diamond’s old experiments.
Part of her wanted to ask what it was like to fuse, though she didn’t want to pry too much.
rainbow paused “that must sound incredibly strange but, really it’s a beautiful thing” he twirls as he walks “humans can grow up, unlike us gems. and fusing with one-” he says with a dreamy voice “now that’s truly incredible~” he looks to her “fusion involve complete trust and synchronization between the two gems. if feels like,, i’m not two people, but one new experience! a bloody amazing experience!” he forcefully shoves a hand over his mouth “oop! there i go again, with the rambling! hahaha” a smile spreads across his face
Moonstone’s smile suddenly had a sort of melancholic undertone to it, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.
“It must be nice,” she said. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something- one of the pristine panels, just a tiny bit dented and askew.
he turns to moonstone “oh it is! …y’know, earth always welcomes new gems. you’d be free to fuse with who ever you’d like” he offers before turning again to notice the panel
Moonstone shook her head, smile fading.
“I could never convince Ametrine,” she quietly said, before prying at the dented panel, keeping a close watch around them. Much to her luck, there was a somewhat-small passageway behind the panel, though it was still a bit large enough to walk through.
“well have you even tried?” he starts to walk through the passage “if you haven’t tried then you’ll never know”
Moonstone ducked into the passageway.
“She’s really close to the other quartzes, I don’t think I could bring myself to try and convince her to leave them,” Moonstone whispered, trying to leave enough space in the narrow passage for Rainbow.
“well, I guess that’s fair… what a shame though” he squeezes by her “it would be nice to have an entire family of quarts on earth with us!” he would have added an elaborate hand motion but there wasn’t much room for it in the tight space they were cramped into
Moonstone continued onwards, a tiny ball of light sitting In the palm of her hand to light the way.
“Even if I could convince her, my supervisor would shatter us for even trying,” Moonstone’s voice was barely even audible.
“hahaha! she could try, but I’m a crystal gem! we’ve fought gems like them for ages!” his voice slightly louder than normal speech. he quiets down “you can do what you do, but can it make you happy?” he whispers “isn’t that worth fighting for?”
Moonstone comsidered what he said, perhaps for just a moment longer than what was needed.
“We need to keep moving,” Moonstone dismissed, walking down the tight hall.
He followed close behind, he practically smooshed himself on top of her! Not that there was much room to do much else “Where dies this panel lead to again?” He asked gently, trying to change his topic of thought
“If I’m right-“ moonstone hoisted Herself up onto a sort of platform where the Hall continued, “Then we should be able to get to one of the air hangars so you can get home.”
Moonstone’s thoughts dived, once again, to the topic Of earth. She had heard so much about it, but was it true? Was she seriously thinking of risking her gem for something she hardly even knew about?
“Oh how lovely!” He followed, lifting himself into the platform as well. “ I honestly can’t wait to feel free again!” He clasped his hands together as he bared a toothy grin, reminiscing about his life in heart.
“That sounds wonderful, Rainbow,” moonstone said, before holding an arm out to stop him. There was a clattering from what seemed to be ahead of them. The ball of light in her hand lengthened and sharpened into a ray as Moonstone scooted forward.
“What is it?” Rainbow whispered “is there someone up ahead?”
Moonstone gestured for him to stay quiet, before walking ahead. With a sort of shimmer, a dark cloak flowed around her shoulders and form like a stormy cloud, the darkness of the passageway blending in with the dark fabric.
Suddenly, there was a flash of gold-orange metal, and three throwing knives were embedded at the two gems’ feet.
Rainbow yelped but quickly prepared his weapon. Ready to fight
“Whose there?” Moonstone called out, weapon at the ready. With another flash of citrine light, moonstone was able to block the weapon, albeit a bit slowly.
“What do you think you’re doing, using our passageway?”
Rainbow turns to moonstone “I can woosh us out of here if you need it” he stated though it sounded more like a question
“That’d be-” Moonstone was cut off by a sudden Impact to the back of her knees, causing her to loose balance. Glancing back, she was startled to found that they were surrounded from both sides in the narrow hall.
He aimed at the enemies on the side the needed escape from and fired! Then grabbed moonstone’s hand “c'mon up you go lov’!” He said pulling her to her feet. He felt at the hilt of his umbrella, ready to open it if anyone decided to strike
“No,” she firmly said, “This is the only way to the air hangars is through here, and you need to get home, I’m afraid.”
Moonstone strode forward, sending the ray of light down the passageway. It hit one of a trio of gems; a short, stocky citrine, an unusually tall Sapphire, and a lanky Ocean Jasper. The Citrine yelped in shock, but seemed otherwise unharmed.
“Oh dear!” He seemed surprised “Who are they?”
“No clue,” Moonstone said, dodging another throwing knife. Sending another periwinkle-white ray of light at the trio of gems. It hit the Citrine again, causing her to collapse back.
“What should we do??” He asks starting to get nervous
“I don’t want to have to hurt anyone, but we need to find a way past them,” Moonstone whispered. A ray of light held poised in her hand, and the trio of gems had their weapons ready, setting the group at a stand-still.
he speaks to the opposing force “what do you want to let us pass” he slightly opens his umbrella in case things go south
The sapphire stepped forward, a crystalline Trail Of frost following in her footfalls. Behind the, Citrine and Ocean Jasper tended nervously, as did Moonstone.
“We’ll let you pass if you promise-“ Sapphire swiftly yanked Rainbow down a bit by the collar of his jacket. “-To never tell anybody about what you saw here, as long as you live, no matter what you see or hear on homeworld or anywhere else.”
Letting Rainbow go, she swiftly turned to Moonstone. The pastel-colored sapphire shifted forms a bit, before rippling back to her original shape. “Don’t think we don’t know who you are, or what you’ve done, Moonstone. We have eyes all over Homeworld, and if you dare to speak on this, we can destroy you.”
The sapphire stepped back, the Citrine and Ocean Jasper flattening themselves against the wall with her to let them pass. The Ocean Jasper seemed tense, her face neutral; on the other hand, the Citrine seemed as though she was trying to hide how nervous she was.
though thoroughly shaken up, he still held his head up. ready to protect moonstone. he glared at the sapphire “y’know… I’m an earth fusion. but make not mistake, I will defend homeward gems like moonstone at all costs” he took a pause “I used to be the pearl that fought by rose quarts”
The Sapphire looked at Rainbow, her expression vacant of all emotions. The Citrine stifled a tiny sob, looking down.
“Rose Quartz…” The Sapphire whistfully said. “The famous failure; Trust me, dear Pearl, we’ll outshine her one day.”
The three turned down the hall, before The Citrine briefly turned back. “I’ll warn you- the lockdown should lift soon. I’d hate for you to get caught,” her voice, though raspy, hoarse, and quiet, held a tiny note of sincerity in it. The Sapphire shot a sharp glare at her, and the three continued onward.
Moonstone gazed on in shock, before walking on. She could have sworn she saw, somewhere on their outfits, each had a tiny symbol resembling an eye- but maybe that was just her imagination.
“what a rude couple of blokes” he grumbled to himself as he walked on.
“did they hurt you?” he asks as he pulls out some bandage tape.
“I’m fine,” Moonstone said, walking ahead. She strode in a daze, feeling lightheaded. Her feet felt as though the floor was being ripped out from under them, and the Ice-Blue Sapphire’s words kept echoing in her head.
‘Don’t think that we don’t know who you are, or what you’ve done…’
“are you sure?” he holds her up a little seeing as she seems dizzy
“I’m fine, let’s just continue,” she said, her tone steely. She twisted away from Rainbow, her freckles paling against her marble-pale skin. Wringing her hands, she walked faster.
“if you say so…”
he slowly followed behind you, looking around him incase of more problems
Moonstone took a step forward, before stumbling, a gasp escaping her throat.
‘What if she knows about Powder Blue, or Ametrine-‘
“W-what’s wrong!?” Rainbow went to reach for her but pulled back and wrapped his arms around himself
“Th-that sapphire knows what I’ve done, she probably knows about Powder Blue and Ametrine…” Moonstone muttered in a daze, leaning against the wall. Images flashed through her head; an iridescent, white gem cracked, and the sound of shattering glass. A Benitoite telling her that every thing’d be fine, and that nobody needs to know.
“should we go back to get them!” he asks, his voice straining
“N-no, you need to get home, a-and it’s already too late,” Moonstone carried on, nails pressing sharply into her hand.
he stops her “I can always got home, but your friends might be in danger!!”
Moonstone considered his words for a long moment, breaths deep and rattling.
“We’ll Check On them quickly, but with us being off lockdown, you’re going to be in more danger of being found out,” Moonstone spoke, Turn back down the hall, before pausing. “How did you even get here, anyway?”
“I took an old eye ship some rubies brought to my home” he took a pause “it would take a while for it to be fixed though”
“An eye ship…” Moonstone mused. “I heard about one of those going missing a few months back, I don’t know if they ever found that one.”
“trust me, they didn’t” he smirked “well, not until i brought it back broken, to get here i mean”
Moonstone couldn’t help but grin a bit as she gaped at him.
“So- you mean-” Moonstone couldn’t help but laugh, “You were the ones who made that ship go missing?” She cackled. “How?”
“well rose quarts needed to get to earth somehow! haha!” he looks to her with a silly grin “we shape shifted into rubies” he giggles to himself “they had no idea!”
“That’s such a relief-“ Moonstone quietly sighed, dropping down the short ledge. “They thought something horrible had happened to them, for a little bit.”
The light in the hall seemed to slightly shift a bit, the colors and shadows bending for a little bit, before going back to normal. Moonstone paused for a fraction of a moment, before continuing onwards. Iris Agates consistently frequented the building, so it was no surprise.
“what do you take me for!?” he fakes disappointment as he dramatically swirls around and laughs “where to captain?”
“Well, it was your idea to check on Ametrine and powder blue, but if I’m correct and the cameras are still on…” Moonstone trailed off. “Suffice to say, we might look a bit suspicious…
that is, if they notice us.”
A mischievous grin crossed her face, before she walked on, searching for one of the old Era 1 storage closets.
“oooo~ plan time?” he hops in place “tell me all about it!!
Moonstone hung back a bit, leaning a bit closer to rainbow so she didn’t have to whisper very loudly.
“Before I tell you; are you able to shape shift at all?”
“yeah, i can do my fair share. but not for to long” he whispered back.
Moonstone hummed, thinking for a moment. Finally, she tripped as she felt the wall give under the weight of her hand. A rift formed in the wall, showing a small, dark, deteriorating room. She quickly slipped in, pulling Rainbow with her.
“Well, you might have to, because I think I might know a shortcut I’m technically not legally allowed to take,” Moonstone whispered, a faint glow emitting from her gem.
“o-okay! what’s the plan?”
“We’re going to have to shapeshift so that the Guards will be looking for somebody else,” she paused, her face flushing a light sky-blue “because I’m technically not allowed to use the Warp pads… and won’t be for a while.”
"What gems are aloud to use the warp pads here?" Rainbow questioned, ready to shap shift.
{Open Starter}
Open Starter: And Her Pearl
Pink clutched the vial containing the orange pearl tightly, holding it near her body as she paced in her room. There was no object on Homeworld that she could use to open it, despite how hard she tried. However, maybe there was something in this ‘Beach City’ that humans and gems alike had a tendency to inhabit. A hopeful spark in her eyes was there and gone in a flash, but her mind was set. She was going to talk to everyone in this city if that was what it took.
She put a beanie over her gem; though she was slowly becoming better at accepting the fact that she was definitely a gem, sometimes she still struggled with the idea. It wasn’t like she was really hiding anything; most people could tell she was either not human or severely sunburnt. She was still comforted knowing that she looked somewhat human.
After looking at herself and the vial one last time, she headed out into the sunny day. The beaming light put a spring in her formerly hesitant step. Humming to herself, she curiously poked her head into every nearby building she could find. None of the humans seemed to have tools that were powerful enough for the exceptionally strong vial, but she continued to look. This was getting to be frustrating, even as she told herself it would be worth it if she could open the vial.
( @rainbow-2point0h we could use this if it’s alright??)
“Watcha got there” said the fusion “is it important?”
Pink Avengurine looked at the vial. “It’s very important…” She paused for a moment, then quickly added, “To me, at least.”
“what’s in it!” he asks, tilting his head
“Well.” She raised the vial for him to see, the pearl inside shifting to the bottom with a soft clink.
“Oh goodness!” He flinched away “what happened to them!?”
“It’s a long story. I shouldn’t have gotten involved with this gem, but I am now.”
She looked down.
“You can tell me” he said with a tender voice “if you’d like, that is”
Rainbow’s tone was enough to persuade her. After all, it had been years since she’d had somebody to really talk to, and this gem seemed to be friendly. “To be entirely honest,” she shuddered, “I put her here when I was on Homeworld.” Her eyes closed. She liked to think what happened wasn’t her fault, and introspection was never easy for her.
He placed a hand over his mouth “Why would you do that?”
“It sounds awful, I know it does. Please hear me out. She continuously goofed off and broke rules, and I was constantly afraid she’d be punished. I figured if she couldn’t do that, at least until we were in space…She’d be fine.” It sounded like a ridiculous idea to her when she said it aloud.
“well that won’t do! you have to free her” he said, waving his arms around frantically
Her face reddened. “What do you think I’m trying to do? It won’t open, it won’t break, nothing I’ve tried has worked. It sure looks like a fragile container, but it isn’t.”
he takes a closer look “what is it made out of?”
“I can’t tell.” It was transparent, made from only a thin layer of material with the exception of two caps on either end, but it didn’t make any noise as she tapped it.
“I might be able to figure it out… But you’d have to follow me” he took a pause “I’m a long way from home”
“I’m willing to go however far we need to go.” She looked determined.
“Fantastic!!” He beamed “ Lets get to it!” He said as he grabbed her hand and rushed off
The vial was still tight in her other hand, and she smiled. “Yeah, let’s.”
he opens up his umbrella and tells her to hold onto his waist
then FWOOM! in a gust of sparkles he sends both of you flying into the air
She gasped, stunned, and looked down. Her eyes focused on the ground as it became distant.
he flew until he reached a pair of trian-tracks
As they arrived, she giggled to herself. It had been a while since she’d flown, and she wasn’t sure she had even flown like that.
“okay! now then, we’ll have to catch the train” he closes his umbrella “but for now we can just follow the train-tracks” he smiled
“Oh, right.” She remembered what she was doing, and proceeded along the tracks.
rainbow balanced on the side of the tracks as if hr were a tightrope walker
“sooooo, what brings you to earth?”
She shrugged. “I was coming here to study the planet, but that plan fell through after I got delayed. A lot happened here that presumably nobody was expecting. It’s a busy planet.”
“Hmm” he listened as he nodded along “do you miss home world?”
“Not really. There wasn’t much to do.” She looked towards the sky. “Our purposes were all we had, but at times, it felt like we didn’t even have that.”
“Well, now you have me!!” He twirled enthusiastically as the tracks started to rumble
Pink Aventurine giggled, her voice audible this time. “You’re not wrong.” Her steps were lighter and more relaxed, though she moved at the same pace.
the tracks rumble more vigorously “oop! that’s out cue!” he pushes her away from the tracks as a train rushes past
“hop on!!”
“Wha- Okay!” She quickly scampered into an opening in the train.
he followed close behind, watching the world go by as the train went forward
“so.. do you like it here? on earth I mean-”
She thought about her answer for a moment. “Earth…..is not as intricate as I had hoped, in some ways. The system of careers and way time is spent during the day is less than efficient. But, even though Earth could afford to fix a lot, it’s beautiful. I’ve grown to like most humans.”
he swayed his feet “that’s nice” he smiles “do you have a home here?”
“I do, technically, but I move around.” She pulled her hat down out of habit.
“hmm, why’s that?” he looks over “if you don’t mind me asking”
She looked back at him. “Everything on this planet is temporary. There’s something I find comforting about being able to totally reinvent myself as many times as I want, especially since I’m not entirely sure who I want to be.” Her gaze moved to the ground.
“well, welcome to earth” he smiled at her and then looked at the skyline “it’s such a beautiful place
“Yep.” She hummed to herself, tapping the vial.
“so” he looks at the vail “do you know what that thing was for?”
“I have some sort of an idea. Most of the containers like this that I found already had gems inside, so I assumed they were for storage. I saw them get picked up and taken out of the room, and they always came back empty.” Her hand moved to her gem. “I wasn’t sure what opened them, but clearly they were able to be accessed somehow.”
“hmm, how curious…” he looked up “did you see what kind of gems were opening them?”
“I didn’t see anyone specifically opening them, but it was mostly quartzes and sapphires that handled them.”
he mumbles to himself “yeah I might…” he trails off
She stared at him. “You might?”
“hm? oh!” he turns to you fully “I might know a gem who works with sort of stuff!” he smiles as the train bumps around
Pink Aventurine gasped, her eyes lighting up. “Wait, really?”
he smiles “yeah! I know a bismuth who used to work with this kind of stuff!”
he took a pause to steady himself as the train shook “at least I think she did”
The vial nearly slipped from her hands. “Oh my stars. That would mean everything to me.” She tried to sound casual about it, but there was obvious and undeniable excitement in her face.
he smiled then looked away “so, what were you doing before I found you?”
“I was just talking about this vial to everyone I could find. I’ve had a lot of free time lately, due to….well, it’s human stuff.” She fidgeted with her hat.
“human stuff? I love human stuff!!” he beams “I mean, I am ¾ths human”
“Well, this wasn’t really fun human stuff. My old human friends went to college, and I went with them just because. After we graduated, though, we went in different directions and never saw each other again. But this was only about…a decade ago.” She shrugged. “I don’t even have a real human ‘job’.”
He thinks, mumbling to himself softly “maybe… we can do some fun stuff when we get to my part of town” he smiles
“Really?” Nobody she had known was this unconditionally caring at first, even though humans were usually way friendlier than gems. It made her wary, but she supposed she should give him a chance. “I’d like that.”
“Cool!” He beamed, then turned back to the open scenery. “Just a few more hours and we’ll be home” he muttered, but mostly to himself. “So did you ever do anything for fun?”
“Well, of course! I…” Nothing came to mind. She had done plenty of things that she considered important or meaningful, but she couldn’t remember a time where she did things specifically for fun. “…Yeah, I did,” she lied halfheartedly.
“like what?” he smiled at her
“I…used to write about the Earth.” Technically, it was true. It was obvious from her tone that it wasn’t particularly exciting to her, but there was a time when she did write frequently.
“hmmm, but was it fun?” he tilts his head at her, the tone in her voice already kind of giving him an answer
“Honestly?” She sighed. “Not really.”
“oh dear, well that won’t do!” he grabs her hand “i promise when we make it to beach city, we’ll have lots of fun!!”
She looked down at their hands, smiling faintly. “…Thanks. I’d love that.”
“okay love! it’s time for us to hop off”
without giving her time to thing he jumps out of the train kart

Oh god, they’re so beautiful

“like what?” he smiled at her
{Open Starter}
"Cool!" He beamed, then turned back to the open scenery. "Just a few more hours and we'll be home" he muttered, but mostly to himself. "So did you ever do anything for fun?"

“aww struck huh? of course you are! I’m such a lovely sight!” he does a full twirl to let lapis get a full view of him@wwater-witch
“W-wow you’re amazing!” She looked at the fusion surprised and giggled
“why thank you love! I have to say, you’re quite the gem, yourself hahaha!” he lets out a hardy laugh at his own joke

“Besides being me?” He took a pause “you wanna see my powers?” A grin spread across his face
“You know it!” She smiled a bit she was excited to see anything Steven could do
he pulls out his shield and spear and slams them together to form an umbrella
“tadaaaa!”
Her eyes turned to stars “oh my stars” it was amazing!
“I’m glad you like it!” he grins ear to ear “wanna see what it doooeesss??”
