Moonstone walked in the direction of the glimmering, looming hall, the area around her near empty. In one hand, she carried an iridescent, cloudy white bubble, its contents blurry. Her other hand was obediently folded behind her back.
The shades of pearlescent white and shining silver reflected around her, making her formâs usual shades of light blue seem near-white. With a sinking feeling, she heard a loud cheering- one of the diamonds had likely returned. She quickly summoned a small, blue screen, checking everything- she had never been notified of this. With a shaky breath, the screen dispersed in a cloud of blue light, and Moonstone continued on her way. Maybe there was a reason she had never been notified, maybe her current job was just enough to get her out of thisâŚ
Rainbow rushed out of the way, hidding behind a doorway to avoid being seen by moonstone, unfortunately his umbrella sticks out and trips moonstone. He practically squeaks in panic as he tries to scramble out of her sight
Moonstone shrieked as she was thrown forward, the bubble in her hands tumbling forward with a dull rattle. She gasped, looking towards it, before sighting the Umbrella.
âWhose There?â She tried to sound imposing, but her voice shook too much.
Rainbow peeked from around a corner
He laughs nervously
âo-okay, donât panic!â The fusion holds his hands out defensively
âI donât want any troubleâ
He slowly reaches for his umbrella thatâs tangled underneath moonstone
Moonstone stood up, stepping behind the umbrella. She swiped a hand across her gem, a bright, crisp ray of white light materializing in her hand. She protectively glanced towards the white bubble, itâs yellow-violet contents floating silently.
rainbow leans dramatically to look at the bubble âoh! thatâs probably important isnât it?â he looks around âweâre you delivering something?â he bares a wide grin, gesturing lightly at the bubble with his umbrella
Moonstone defensively took a step towards the bubble.
âMy friend-â her voice hitched, remembering where she was.
âAn Ametrine I know was cracked by a rogue Quartz soldier- Iâm trying to get to one of the chambers to get her fixed, but half the hallways are closed,â she said, the ray of light in her hand letting out a dull hum.
âOh!â He put his hands to his face in shock. âIâm sorry! If youâd like I can try and help you get around in this maze of a buildingâ he gestures to the gem on his forehead âI think pearl knows this place pretty wellâ
Moonstone had hardly even noticed the gemâs appearance, but now she took it in- they definitely werenât from homeworld, given their (albeit, a little fabulous) appearance. She took notice of the two gems, internally surprised, though not that they were a cross-gem fusion on homeworld- more or less, that she had stumbled across a gem that was possibly in the same situation as her.
âThatâd be amazing, if you can spare the time,â she scooped up the bubble, and though the ray of light remained in her hand, it began to flicker just the tiniest bit.
âof course lass! letâs have a bloody brilliant time!â he flails his umbrella around with excitement. âmy nameâs rainbow quarts by the way, but most people call me rainbowâ he smiles as he grabs moonstoneâs arm while he leads the way âwhatâs yours?â
The corners of her mouth slightly flickered into a smile. The bubble in her hand gave the faintest yellow-purple spark of light, as though delighted.
âIâm Moonstone 7xY,â she said, trying to discretely slide her arm away. âYour jacket is quite lovely, by the way.â
rainbow notices the slight discomfort on moonstoneâs face and lets go of her arm âwhy thank you moonstone!!â he smiles back. âso⌠if you donât mind me asking, what happened to your friend there?â he tries to look to make sure he isnât stepping his boundaries.
Moonstoneâs smile shrank a bit, taking in a rattling breath.
âI was having her and a pearl I know help me organize some files and reports of mine, when my supervisor- a water lily agate- had to talk to Ametrine,â she paused, her smile finally fading. âAll I heard was yelling, so I⌠kind of assumed the worst, knowing my supervisor.â Moonstone had to contain a shudder, the memories a stain on her mind.
rainbow covers his mouth a sorrowful expression draping his face. âwell that wonât due, letâs save your friend asap!â he grabs her hand and straddles his umbrella ârainbow quarts powers, activate!!â suddenly moonstone and rainbow are propelled forward at top speed! around corners and through doorways until finally, they reach the closest chamber to heal the hurt gem he quickly lets go and turns to smile at you âweâre here!~â he sing-songs
Moonstone wavered on her feet a bit, a little winded. She couldnât help but laugh- the past few minutes had been quite strange, in her eyes.
âT-thank you,â she said, the bubble in her hand dissolving, to reveal an oval-shaped, half-yellow, half-purple gem that seemed to knowingly shimmer in the light. Moonstone goes to knock on the heavy door, when, strangely, it creaks open, a sliver of light coming from the room.
âWhat?â Moonstone whispered.
Rainbow moves behind her to try and peek through the door. âHad something happened?â He looks at moonstone and her friend with a questioning glance
Moonstone furrowed her eyebrows, pushing the door open a bit wider. The scene inside the chamber was⌠at the very least, incredibly strange. A sterile, bleach-white wall was crashed inwards, and a few gems and weapons littered the floor, along with shattered glass and bits of destroyed chambers.
Moonstone gasped; âWhat happened?â She said to herself.
âoh dear!â he exclaimed, finally getting a look inside the chamber. he took a cautious step inside as he examined the room. âI donât think weâre the first ones whoâv been in hereâŚâ
Moonstone stepped inside, glancing around. Save for the proofed guards and attendants, the left side of the room seemed to be fine. Placing Ametrineâs gem within one of the glass chambers, she then turned to the site of disaster.
âItâs so strange,â she muttered. âThe crashed wall makes me think it was an accident, but the weaponsâŚâ
âA mystery indeed!â He exclaims âdo you think we can still fix your friend with all this damage?â He looks over to moonstone
Moonstone glanced back at the glass chambers, a faint blue-ish glow beginning to arise from the glass.
âI think sheâll be fine for now, as long as⌠whatever did this doesnât return,â Moonstone guessed, once again summoning a long, thin ray of light from her gem. Save for the tumbling of some rubble, the site seemed to be still and almost empty.
he puts a hand on her shoulder âhow are you feelinâ luvâ?â he tries to make eye contact with her. fighting back his urge to be silly
Moonstone met his eyes, but not before taking another glance at Ametrineâs gem. Her head felt a bit light, and it took effort to keep herself from falling over.
âHonestly?â She said, âQuite dazed.â A sudden noise caught Moonstoneâs attention, and she noticed a banded, green-white-brown gem slide off from the rubble and hit the ground with a clatter. Picking it up, she slapped a hand over her mouth to swallow a shriek, and nearly dropped the gem.
âwhat! what is it!?â he tried his best to whisper, but his volume was barely below a yell. he tries not to panic by running his hands through his hair
The gem slipped from Moonstoneâs hands and she backed away, the noise interrupting the once silent room.
âN-no, she canât be in here-â Moonstone panickedly muttered. She quickly swiped Ametrineâs gem from the glass chamber, the crack in it half-healed. âWe need to find a different chamber- if my supervisor was here, th-thenâŚâ she trailed off.
âwha- I can try my best to lead you to another chamber but you have to tell me whatâs wrongâŚâ
Moonstone hesitated a bit before finally speaking.
âMy supervisor is quite possibly one of the cruelest gems Iâve ever met,â she whispered, as though scared that a poofed gem could hear her. âIf she saw either of us in here with Ametrine, I could hardly image what she would do, and I know how quickly she tends to regenerate.â
he nods âgot it, hang on!â he once again grabs her arm and blasts away as fast as he can
Moonstone yelped in surprise, still not used to traveling so fast. So far, Rainbow was quite the interesting gem, and it was a bit fun to meet somebody new after so long of the same routine.
Moonstone held Ametrineâs gem tightly in her one free hand, trying to ignore the fissure in the top of the gem. For just a moment, she could still feel the quartzâs hand in hers, the scrawny gem calming her nerves.
âhow aboutâŚ. here!â he stops sharply, still holding her hand to stop her from falling. âbut the door seems to be stuck..â he starts to examine the door
Moonstone untangled her hand from his, walking towards the door. She knocked on the door, watching as a twitchy, young, peach-colored Pearl opened the door. Moonstoneâs face cracked into a smile.
âI didnât know they hired you as an attendant, Peach,â Moonstone mused, watching an orange-pink blush color the small pearlâs face.
âWeâre on a semi-lockdown, Moonstone, what do you want?â Peach Pearl snapped, before turning her head to Rainbow Quartz, curled hair slightly tangling with the door handle. âAnd what exactly are you? One of the defectives that Moonstone took in?â
he gasped and gave a sour look before thinking to himself âyesâŚâ he covers the gemstone on his stomach âI'v been requested to beâŚtrained..to..be useful because ofâŚcutbacksâ he lies through his teeth trying not to snap with anger and cause moonstone any trouble
Moonstone glanced back at him, a strange looking crossing her face for a brief moment.
âPeaches,â Moonstone showed her the cracked gem in her hands, âIâm sure your Padparadscha Sapphire would be most unpleased with you if you refused to help the personal guard of a high-class gem.â
The pearl looked confused. âPersonal guardâŚâ suddenly, a smirk crossed her features. âOf all gems, I never thought youâd go for a quartz!â She cackled out a quick laugh, before opening the door.
rainbow follows behind moonstone, glaring at the peach pearl as he walks past her
Moonstone handed the gem to peach pearl, who quickly hopped past the lines of glass pillars.
âYou really didnât need to do that,â Moonstone said to Rainbow, her voice barely above a whisper. As much as the curiosity ate away at her for why they were on lockdown, she pushed it down, at least for now.
âI wouldnât want to cause you any trouble now lovâ. itâs no big fussâ he whispered back âdonât worry about itâ he settled with standing besides her trying not to fidget
âI know, thank you, itâs justâŚâ Moonstone hung back a bit as they passed a pair of Taaffeites, trying to stay quiet. âI never like using my status to get out of things.â
Moonstone watched as Ametrineâs gem began to float in the smaller chamber, the clouded glass tube giving off a small, high-pitched hum. The room was a tiny bit darker than most rooms on Homeworld, an odd amount of gems within the room.
âSo⌠why exactly are we on partial lockdown?â Moonstone asked Peach.
âA group of new rebels have been going around destroying certain buildings and vandalizing them- nobody knows who they are, but we think they might have an Iris Agate with them, considering how the tend to disappear whenever they destroy something,â Peach Pearl gossiped, slightly smirking. âIâm a little surprised to see that they havenât mentioned you at all.â
before moonstone could respond rainbow cut in âwhy would they mention moonstone!â ⌠âI-i mean my moonstone??â
Peach Pearl cawed out a laugh, her voice cutting through the dull hum of gossip and regeneration chambers in the room. âClearly, you havenât been around long enough- your Moonstone here is⌠a little known around here for befriending defective, rebellious, and overall troublesome gems,â She cooed, âwhat a shame- she couldâve been the perfect gem.â
Moonstoneâs nails dug deep into her palms as she tried to stay calm and quiet, her face angrily flushing a pastel sky-blue. âWatch your words, Peach.â
âsheâs a valid gem no matter what you say!â he gasps and covers his mouth
âuh, I mean.. donât talk to your superior like that!!â he growls out his words, failing to keep in his anger. he stood for love of oneself and he wasnât gonna let the pearl have her way
Moonstone gave Rainbow a look as if to say Thank You. She opened her mouth to speak, when, suddenly, there was a ringing noise from the small chamber.
âOh, thank the stars,â Moonstone sighed, as the glow from the glass dimmed to reveal a healed Ametrine gem. Peach retrieved the gem, handing it to Moonstone. The snarky pearl opened her mouth to speak, when a series of shrieks, the sound of a crash, and a brief sound of what seemed to be shattering glad echoed from the hall.
rainbow got into a fighting stance âwhatâs going on!â he screech reaching for his umbrella
The pair of Taaffeites shrieked and leapt away from the door, and Moonstone kept a hand over her gem. Walking over to the door, she peaked through a cracked open door, almost gasping at the scene. From what she could see, a wall had caved in, part of a ship crashed through it. Two proofed gems seemed to have had fallen next to one another, and around them were what seemed to be⌠Oh, Stars, noâŚ
Moonstone loudly shrieked, flinching away from the doors, shaking like a leaf.
âwhatâs wrong!!â he steps in front of moonstone, hands on her shoulders. he quickly spins on his heals, umbrella at the ready to strike if need be. âsay the word and Iâll have us out of here, pronto!â
Moonstone opened the door fully, trying to ignore the turquoise gem shards on the floor. For just a moment, she thought she saw a head of colorful hair just as it disappeared, before brushing it off as her being in shock.
âAre you alright, Moon?â A familiar voice said. Moonstone whipped around, face-to-face with a newly reformed Ametrine.
âOh! A new friend!â His protective attitude was immediately replaced with happiness at the though of making a new companion
Ametrine turned to the colorful gem.
âWho are you?â She chirped, keeping a gentle hand on Moonstoneâs shoulder. Moonstone slid a hand up to her shoulder and intertwined herâs with Ametrineâs, lifting it off of her shoulder.
âyou may call me rainbow quarts!â he struck a dramatic pose âor rainbow for short~ and I assume you are amertrine! moonstone mentioned you!â he smiled
Moonstone glanced towards the door, which was still open, though the gems inside had yet to notice what was going on outside.
âOh, did she?â Ametrine teased moonstone, causing the other to chuckle a bit.
âIn all seriousness, I think we should get moving, if thereâs been two incidents of this-â she gestured to the wreckage- âin one day.â
âokay! where to captain!!â he does a small salut with the word captain
Untangling her hand from Ametrineâs, but still staying quite close to her, Moonstone glanced down the other end of the hallway.
âFollow me- I think I might be able to find my way to my office from here,â she said, turning down the hallway. For a few minutes, the hallway seemed empty and devoid of most other gems, so she intertwined her hand with Ametrineâs once more.
rainbow followed close behind, dramatically swiveling his body to look around the halls
âSo, where exactly are you from, Rainbow?â Moonstone asked, a bit curious about this new gem. They had seemingly come out of nowhere, though she couldnât say it was a bad thing, considering how helpful they had been.
âWell, Iâm from earth!â He smiled âIâm actually only hear to visit, you see pearl wanted information on how this place was holding up since sheâd leftâ he says matter oâ factly! âI was doing a pretty good job not being noticed.. Until y'know, I tripped youâ he rubs the back of his neck
Moonstone winced. âYeah, Iâm sorry about that,â she said, though she suddenly remembered what he had said first.
âWhatâs it like, on earth? I know about the rebellion from there, butâŚâ she paused, âThatâs all I can find in public records.â Ametrine noticed the look on the blue-hued gemâs face, and gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
âOh, itâs fantastic. The gems there are free! You get to wintess the natural life there grow up and change, such an incredible power they have. The water there is cool and reckless and not just used for the lapis lazuliâs work. Flowers bloom without strict orders!â he takes a breath, then sighs. âItâs a truly wonderful place to liveâ he perks up âOh but thatâs just me ramblingâ he claps his hands together to signify heâs done talking
Moonstone stayed quiet, her thoughts stirring. She had always wanted to be free to be affectionate with Ametrine, and homeworld had just been⌠too much for her. She shuddered at the memories of her Supervisor- oh, what sheâd give to never have to hear that gem again.
âIt sounds interesting,â Ametrine responded. Moonstone was quite curious about earth⌠but, stars above, if she were caught trying to leave, sheâd be shattered!
âOne day Iâll have to take you there haha!â He said as he continued to walk down the hallway. âEither that or Iâll have to keep visiting my two new friends here on homeworld!â
âY'knowâŚâ Moonstone couldnât help but smile a bit at the idea, as implausible as it was, âThatâd be nice⌠maybe someday.â
Ametrine bounced ahead, cheerful at the sight of a familiar, decorative door. âHere we are,â Ametrine said, âI wonder if Powder Blue is still-â
âPowder Blue is off with one of the ice sapphires,â Moonstone cut in, opening the door a bit to let in the other two gems.
âPowder blue?â He tilts his head in an inquisitive motion. âWhat are we doing here anywwho?â He smiles
âPowder Blue is a pearl that tends to hang around here- really, quite a sweet gem,â Moonstone sidetracked, before realizing their second question. âAh, weâre because thereâs been two attacks in one day, and I need to check the records on this- itâd be a safer place to be, and I might be able to find a way to get you back to earth.â
âWhy that sounds delightful!â Rainbow spouted enthusiastically
Planting a small kiss on Ametrineâs forehead, Moonstone summoned a series of diamond-shaped, transparent blue panels. Rifling through them, she finds something intriguing.
âThereâs been a few sightings of the rebels over the past few months, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason behind their attacks⌠though, with us being on partial lockdown, it would be easier for us to get you home discretely, Rainbow,â Moonstone looked up at the friendly, colorful gem.
âof courseâ he nods âlead me to victory!â he says, putting his trust in her
âOkay, well⌠it may not be pleasant, since sneaking around Homeworld can be a bit tricky,â she trailed off. Moonstone turned to Ametrine, before pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
âIâll be back, love, I promise,â Moonstone said, earning a silent nod from Ametrine. Turning to rainbow Quartz, she opened the door, gesturing for the Eccentric gem to exit with her.
he waves goodbye to ametrine and practically skips behind moonstone. âwhere are we headed now?â
âWell, Mon Ami,â she drawled, finding that a bit Rainbowâs flamboyance has begun to ware off on her, âWith us being on partial lockdown, the air hangars are likely closed- but, with your help, we might be able to sneak in.â
âah yes! my help!â âŚÂ âwhat should I do??â he looks around, doing a complete 360 turn âI donât know what areas to head two since this place is on a weird lockdownâ he gives a weary smile, attempting to stay calm
Moonstone turned around, walking backwards and gesturing with her arms out.
âThe Diamonds never really care about this place very much, since itâs so close to the red-line district, so while the rest of homeworld might be on full lockdown, weâre basically just told to stay quiet and not use the ships,â she explained. âNot that most gems follow that protocol, anyways.â
âso what should we do?â he asks âIâve been away for so long, I donât remember everything about this placeâ he flails his arms around with the word everything
âIâve heard about an abandoned door behind one of the panels in the west wing,â she said, âif I can find it, maybe we can sneak our way into the Air Hangar of the West Wing.â
Moonstone curiously peered at Rainbow. âIf you donât mind me asking- who are you a fusion of, exactly?â
He perked up, âwell technically Iâm a fusion of a rose quarts gem and a pearl but the rose quarts gem is⌠half human. Itâs complicated realyâ he gives a tired smile
Moonstone has to admit, she was a little startled by Rainbowâs words.
âHalf humanâŚâ she whispered, mostly to herself, though she internally guessed it must have been one of the Diamondâs old experiments.
Part of her wanted to ask what it was like to fuse, though she didnât want to pry too much.
rainbow paused âthat must sound incredibly strange but, really itâs a beautiful thingâ he twirls as he walks âhumans can grow up, unlike us gems. and fusing with one-â he says with a dreamy voice ânow thatâs truly incredible~â he looks to her âfusion involve complete trust and synchronization between the two gems. if feels like,, iâm not two people, but one new experience! a bloody amazing experience!â he forcefully shoves a hand over his mouth âoop! there i go again, with the rambling! hahahaâ a smile spreads across his face
Moonstoneâs smile suddenly had a sort of melancholic undertone to it, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.
âIt must be nice,â she said. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something- one of the pristine panels, just a tiny bit dented and askew.
he turns to moonstone âoh it is! âŚyâknow, earth always welcomes new gems. youâd be free to fuse with who ever youâd likeâ he offers before turning again to notice the panel
Moonstone shook her head, smile fading.
âI could never convince Ametrine,â she quietly said, before prying at the dented panel, keeping a close watch around them. Much to her luck, there was a somewhat-small passageway behind the panel, though it was still a bit large enough to walk through.
âwell have you even tried?â he starts to walk through the passage âif you havenât tried then youâll never knowâ
Moonstone ducked into the passageway.
âSheâs really close to the other quartzes, I donât think I could bring myself to try and convince her to leave them,â Moonstone whispered, trying to leave enough space in the narrow passage for Rainbow.
âwell, I guess thatâs fair⌠what a shame thoughâ he squeezes by her âit would be nice to have an entire family of quarts on earth with us!â he would have added an elaborate hand motion but there wasnât much room for it in the tight space they were cramped into
Moonstone continued onwards, a tiny ball of light sitting In the palm of her hand to light the way.
âEven if I could convince her, my supervisor would shatter us for even trying,â Moonstoneâs voice was barely even audible.
âhahaha! she could try, but Iâm a crystal gem! weâve fought gems like them for ages!â his voice slightly louder than normal speech. he quiets down âyou can do what you do, but can it make you happy?â he whispers âisnât that worth fighting for?â
Moonstone comsidered what he said, perhaps for just a moment longer than what was needed.
âWe need to keep moving,â Moonstone dismissed, walking down the tight hall.
He followed close behind, he practically smooshed himself on top of her! Not that there was much room to do much else âWhere dies this panel lead to again?â He asked gently, trying to change his topic of thought
âIf Iâm right-â moonstone hoisted Herself up onto a sort of platform where the Hall continued, âThen we should be able to get to one of the air hangars so you can get home.â
Moonstoneâs thoughts dived, once again, to the topic Of earth. She had heard so much about it, but was it true? Was she seriously thinking of risking her gem for something she hardly even knew about?
âOh how lovely!â He followed, lifting himself into the platform as well. â I honestly canât wait to feel free again!â He clasped his hands together as he bared a toothy grin, reminiscing about his life in heart.
âThat sounds wonderful, Rainbow,â moonstone said, before holding an arm out to stop him. There was a clattering from what seemed to be ahead of them. The ball of light in her hand lengthened and sharpened into a ray as Moonstone scooted forward.
âWhat is it?â Rainbow whispered âis there someone up ahead?â
Moonstone gestured for him to stay quiet, before walking ahead. With a sort of shimmer, a dark cloak flowed around her shoulders and form like a stormy cloud, the darkness of the passageway blending in with the dark fabric.
Suddenly, there was a flash of gold-orange metal, and three throwing knives were embedded at the two gemsâ feet.
Rainbow yelped but quickly prepared his weapon. Ready to fight
âWhose there?â Moonstone called out, weapon at the ready. With another flash of citrine light, moonstone was able to block the weapon, albeit a bit slowly.
âWhat do you think youâre doing, using our passageway?â
Rainbow turns to moonstone âI can woosh us out of here if you need itâ he stated though it sounded more like a question
âThatâd be-â Moonstone was cut off by a sudden Impact to the back of her knees, causing her to loose balance. Glancing back, she was startled to found that they were surrounded from both sides in the narrow hall.
He aimed at the enemies on the side the needed escape from and fired! Then grabbed moonstoneâs hand âc'mon up you go lovâ!â He said pulling her to her feet. He felt at the hilt of his umbrella, ready to open it if anyone decided to strike
âNo,â she firmly said, âThis is the only way to the air hangars is through here, and you need to get home, Iâm afraid.â
Moonstone strode forward, sending the ray of light down the passageway. It hit one of a trio of gems; a short, stocky citrine, an unusually tall Sapphire, and a lanky Ocean Jasper. The Citrine yelped in shock, but seemed otherwise unharmed.
âOh dear!â He seemed surprised âWho are they?â
âNo clue,â Moonstone said, dodging another throwing knife. Sending another periwinkle-white ray of light at the trio of gems. It hit the Citrine again, causing her to collapse back.
âWhat should we do??â He asks starting to get nervous
âI donât want to have to hurt anyone, but we need to find a way past them,â Moonstone whispered. A ray of light held poised in her hand, and the trio of gems had their weapons ready, setting the group at a stand-still.
he speaks to the opposing force âwhat do you want to let us passâ he slightly opens his umbrella in case things go south
The sapphire stepped forward, a crystalline Trail Of frost following in her footfalls. Behind the, Citrine and Ocean Jasper tended nervously, as did Moonstone.
âWeâll let you pass if you promise-â Sapphire swiftly yanked Rainbow down a bit by the collar of his jacket. â-To never tell anybody about what you saw here, as long as you live, no matter what you see or hear on homeworld or anywhere else.â
Letting Rainbow go, she swiftly turned to Moonstone. The pastel-colored sapphire shifted forms a bit, before rippling back to her original shape. âDonât think we donât know who you are, or what youâve done, Moonstone. We have eyes all over Homeworld, and if you dare to speak on this, we can destroy you.â
The sapphire stepped back, the Citrine and Ocean Jasper flattening themselves against the wall with her to let them pass. The Ocean Jasper seemed tense, her face neutral; on the other hand, the Citrine seemed as though she was trying to hide how nervous she was.
though thoroughly shaken up, he still held his head up. ready to protect moonstone. he glared at the sapphire âyâknowâŚÂ Iâm an earth fusion. but make not mistake, I will defend homeward gems like moonstone at all costsâ he took a pause âI used to be the pearl that fought by rose quartsâ
The Sapphire looked at Rainbow, her expression vacant of all emotions. The Citrine stifled a tiny sob, looking down.
âRose QuartzâŚâ The Sapphire whistfully said. âThe famous failure; Trust me, dear Pearl, weâll outshine her one day.â
The three turned down the hall, before The Citrine briefly turned back. âIâll warn you- the lockdown should lift soon. Iâd hate for you to get caught,â her voice, though raspy, hoarse, and quiet, held a tiny note of sincerity in it. The Sapphire shot a sharp glare at her, and the three continued onward.
Moonstone gazed on in shock, before walking on. She could have sworn she saw, somewhere on their outfits, each had a tiny symbol resembling an eye- but maybe that was just her imagination.
âwhat a rude couple of blokesâ he grumbled to himself as he walked on.
âdid they hurt you?â he asks as he pulls out some bandage tape.
âIâm fine,â Moonstone said, walking ahead. She strode in a daze, feeling lightheaded. Her feet felt as though the floor was being ripped out from under them, and the Ice-Blue Sapphireâs words kept echoing in her head.
âDonât think that we donât know who you are, or what youâve doneâŚâ
âare you sure?â he holds her up a little seeing as she seems dizzy
âIâm fine, letâs just continue,â she said, her tone steely. She twisted away from Rainbow, her freckles paling against her marble-pale skin. Wringing her hands, she walked faster.
âif you say soâŚâ
he slowly followed behind you, looking around him incase of more problems
Moonstone took a step forward, before stumbling, a gasp escaping her throat.
âWhat if she knows about Powder Blue, or Ametrine-â
âW-whatâs wrong!?â Rainbow went to reach for her but pulled back and wrapped his arms around himself
âTh-that sapphire knows what Iâve done, she probably knows about Powder Blue and AmetrineâŚâ Moonstone muttered in a daze, leaning against the wall. Images flashed through her head; an iridescent, white gem cracked, and the sound of shattering glass. A Benitoite telling her that every thingâd be fine, and that nobody needs to know.
âshould we go back to get them!â he asks, his voice straining
âN-no, you need to get home, a-and itâs already too late,â Moonstone carried on, nails pressing sharply into her hand.
he stops her âI can always got home, but your friends might be in danger!!â
Moonstone considered his words for a long moment, breaths deep and rattling.
âWeâll Check On them quickly, but with us being off lockdown, youâre going to be in more danger of being found out,â Moonstone spoke, Turn back down the hall, before pausing. âHow did you even get here, anyway?â
âI took an old eye ship some rubies brought to my homeâ he took a pause âit would take a while for it to be fixed thoughâ
âAn eye shipâŚâ Moonstone mused. âI heard about one of those going missing a few months back, I donât know if they ever found that one.â
âtrust me, they didnâtâ he smirked âwell, not until i brought it back broken, to get here i meanâ
Moonstone couldnât help but grin a bit as she gaped at him.
âSo- you mean-â Moonstone couldnât help but laugh, âYou were the ones who made that ship go missing?â She cackled. âHow?â
âwell rose quarts needed to get to earth somehow! haha!â he looks to her with a silly grin âwe shape shifted into rubiesâ he giggles to himself âthey had no idea!â
âThatâs such a relief-â Moonstone quietly sighed, dropping down the short ledge. âThey thought something horrible had happened to them, for a little bit.â
The light in the hall seemed to slightly shift a bit, the colors and shadows bending for a little bit, before going back to normal. Moonstone paused for a fraction of a moment, before continuing onwards. Iris Agates consistently frequented the building, so it was no surprise.
âwhat do you take me for!?â he fakes disappointment as he dramatically swirls around and laughs âwhere to captain?â
âWell, it was your idea to check on Ametrine and powder blue, but if Iâm correct and the cameras are still onâŚâ Moonstone trailed off. âSuffice to say, we might look a bit suspiciousâŚ
that is, if they notice us.â
A mischievous grin crossed her face, before she walked on, searching for one of the old Era 1 storage closets.
âoooo~ plan time?â he hops in place âtell me all about it!!
Moonstone hung back a bit, leaning a bit closer to rainbow so she didnât have to whisper very loudly.
âBefore I tell you; are you able to shape shift at all?â
âyeah, i can do my fair share. but not for to longâ he whispered back.
Moonstone hummed, thinking for a moment. Finally, she tripped as she felt the wall give under the weight of her hand. A rift formed in the wall, showing a small, dark, deteriorating room. She quickly slipped in, pulling Rainbow with her.
âWell, you might have to, because I think I might know a shortcut Iâm technically not legally allowed to take,â Moonstone whispered, a faint glow emitting from her gem.
âo-okay! whatâs the plan?â
âWeâre going to have to shapeshift so that the Guards will be looking for somebody else,â she paused, her face flushing a light sky-blue âbecause Iâm technically not allowed to use the Warp pads⌠and wonât be for a while.â
âWhat gems are aloud to use the warp pads here?â Rainbow questioned, ready to shap shift.
âAny gems that have a permit or reason to, really, as long as theyâre using it responsibly,â Moonstone said, a flash of white light engulfing her before snuffing out.
A straight, marble-white pixie haircut replaced her sky-blue ringlets, her skin becoming a light shade of cerulean. Her dress shifted into a pair of leggings and short jacket, her flats turning into a silver pair of short boots.
{Open Starter}
She quickly slipped in, pulling Rainbow with her.
âWell, you might have to, because I think I might know a shortcut Iâm technically not legally allowed to take,â Moonstone whispered, a faint glow emitting from her gem.
âo-okay! whatâs the plan?â
âWeâre going to have to shapeshift so that the Guards will be looking for somebody else,â she paused, her face flushing a light sky-blue âbecause Iâm technically not allowed to use the Warp pads... and wonât be for a while.â

{Open Starter}

Iris Agates consistently frequented the building, so it was no surprise.
âwhat do you take me for!?â he fakes disappointment as he dramatically swirls around and laughs âwhere to captain?â
âWell, it was your idea to check on Ametrine and powder blue, but if Iâm correct and the cameras are still on...â Moonstone trailed off. âSuffice to say, we might look a bit suspicious...
that is, if they notice us.â
A mischievous grin crossed her face, before she walked on, searching for one of the old Era 1 storage closets.
