You die old and happy. That should be the best way to go. That should be the easiest death to grieve. Not for them though. They cannot rationalise it. You weren’t in danger and you still died. Their processor cannot handle it. You should still be here. You should still be with them. You weren’t taken away like everyone else, but you did leave. You are gone. And there is no coming back. And they just… crumble because of it.

Decades. Parked by your grave whenever they get the chance. Almost waiting, as if they think you’ll stick your hand out of the dirt one day and squeal that you “got them”, that you “pranked them good!”.

They did all the right things, after all. They protected you from danger. They kept a smile on your face. They cherished their time with you. That should mean that you stay, right?

Just ugh, imagining Bulkhead getting over his fear of accidentally hurting Miko and his overprotectivness but it coming right back when she gets old enough that a simple fall for her could be dangerous.

Then when it gets to a point when even walking is too much exertion for Miko is when the reality of her dying from old age reality sets in for Bulkhead. He would do everything he could to make sure she was healthy and comfortable: meal plans, a excise schedule, giving her the best medication he could find, heck, Bulkhead would even breathe Miko's oxygen for her if needed. He would do everything. So,

please stop getting older.

Then invitably when her times comes to pass Bulkhead would break. While the other Wreckers and the rest of her friends would sad as well he would completely and utterly devastated. I don't know if he could ever truly get over the heartbreak or ever be the same again. Stealing a line from a Batman fic:

"I think if someone dug Bulkhead a grave he would crawl into it, just so could be closer to his daughter."

Like dude, dude. He would absolutely spend centuries at her grave waiting for her to come back somehow; he would probably even protect the plot like it was her. Aggressively fending off birds or trying to keep the gravestone clean as possible.

I could also see him getting irrationally angry when other people use the Apex armor, as that was hers, (in my mind palace adult Miko is basically the owner of the armor) no else should be allowed to touch it.

He would be pretty bad but it's not like the other Autobots could judge him, as they would be just as torn up or even worse when their own kids die.

Arcee? Oh, she would take it so hard, especially considering her past trauma. She most likely even blame herself for it, no matter how illogical that is.

Bumblebee and Ratchet would sick with grief. As a medic Ratchet would tear himself up with how he could have extended Raf's life more and his perceived mistakes on his medical care.

While they are more close with specific kids every time one of them died all of the Autobots would feel it deep within their sparks. Depending on their individual coping mechanisms they might just rot together with each other in their grief. Like Bulkhead and Wheeljack sitting together at Miko's grave never speaking but being there for one another. Never moving a inch even as the plants grew onto their frames and the weather corroded away their armor.

As much as I like looking at the similarities between cybertronians and humans in an in-lore context, I like it because of the irony. By all intents and purposes, they should be as different as can be. One race is made of flesh, the other metal. One is tiny, the other giant. One is so short lived their lives don't even amount to a blink, the other can live for so long they can watch the births of stars and planets and live to their primes.

Even down to their very lifeblood, they are different.

One is dark red, the other light blue.

They are, quite literally, the color negative of the other.

I made this supper quick, a very nondescript red puddle of nothing you need to worry about, and inverted the color to the puddle bellow that.

Blood and energon.

The difference might as well be written in their DNA and CNA respectively.

And yet.

And yet, they are so, so similar. Personalities, histories, habits, fears, hopes, griefs, desires... even sins.

The relationship humans and cybertronians have on a cosmic scale leaves me in awe.
