She has been quite the ally who helped gay couples come out of the closet and be accepted in the 1990’s by inviting them to her royal balls and please bring their partners along if they so wished, like the politician Torben Lund who was outed against his will by another politician. The term was coined as a representation of female homosexuality by japanese wlw. Yuri Manga are largely written by wlws for wlws. While yes, there are some problematic yuri manga, this really isnt something the term yuri is responsible for. Many japanese wlw, and with the worldwide popularity of manga/anime, also international wlw identify with the term and cherish it.
