All the hatred for any fans of the new Grinch movie stems from hatred for fans of the Lorax movie which stemmed from the hatred for fan(girl)s of Jojo McDodd from the Horton Hears a Who movie
Which, in complete honesty, was at least toxic and self destructive enough to warrant some shaming, but ultimately the hatred for them, of course, is rooted in cringe culture that hates preteen/tween girls for having passionate interests about anything or wanting to self-ship with characters
And in preemptive retaliation against anything resembling the Jojo McDodd fandom, which the two Seuss fandoms following it (keeping in mind that the Grinch movie was only recently released so it’s fandom can hardly even be *characterized* at this point) were even CLOSE to being as toxic as, any Seussdom that tries to form following the Jojo McDodd fandom gets bullied to all hell hoping that the fans will get exhausted and drop their interests just because people enjoy feeling superior based on what movies they like.
The degree to which the Onceler/Lorax fandom was bullied was absolutely disgusting and entirely unwarranted. And people talking about it like “war flashbacks” just shows that people arent willing to drop the hatred for it any time soon. It’s been 6 YEARS and yall wont grow the fuck up, and now any Grinch fandom that tries forming is potentially going to go through either the same or worse because people arent allowed to enjoy ANYTHING because apparently a group of rabid preteen girls in 2008 (a FUCKING DECADE AGO) ruined everything for any Seuss-based adaptation to follow.
I dont care if you think the movie is good or bad, people are still allowed to enjoy something regardless of quality.
