i gotta admit i had never heard of it but i do see the vision

Virge's view helps counteract Logan's tendency to maximize systems. Virge helps stabilize the idea that the world is made of perfect, logical systems that do (or should) behave in ideal conditions. He introduces conceptual messiness to make conclusions more accurate. Additionally, Virge sharpens the fusion's emotional awareness (granted, the fusion tends to be biased toward negative emotions and outcomes).

Logan's view helps counteract overwhelm. He helps sort through information to find what's worth focusing on. More than that, he can take what feels like overwhelming problems and break them into separate issues that can be worked through individually. He helps the pieces make sense, rather than letting the bigger picture be gaping and jagged ovewehelm.

When fused, Virgil feels more capable of solving problems, and Logan feels more capable of applying real-world solutions.

The fusion does smooth both of their rough edges, in some ways. But not all.

The main danger is also their strength: analysis.

The fusion can analyze the world and people around them with startling efficieny. That same analysis turns fatal when it's aimed inward.

When trying to analyze themself, the fusion gets stuck in logic loops. Every option, every interpretation, every thought feels like a trap with thousands of data points keeping them pinned in place. Logic can't save you when it's already working to keep you paralyzed.

Which leads to severe panic attacks, nonverbal episodes, hyperintensity, etc.

So the fusion inevitably crumbles. Severely.

The experience is painful enough that Virge and Logan avoid each other for days after the split, because seeing each other puts them right back into that terrifying awareness of their own flaws and fragility.

But they don't stay apart for long.

So after a few days, they go back to each other. Moving too much, too fast, and swinging from one extreme (avoidance) to the other (sudden closeness).

Or, he would have, if not for Virgil. Fight or flight takes over, and Thomas comes out okay. Afterward, everyone is... rattled. Logan and Roman can't confidently make decisions, keep second-guessing everything. Patton is clingly, can't stop thinking about everything they almost lost-- not the money, but the ability to be with the people they (Thomas) love. They're all shellshocked.

Virgil sees it. His job doesn't stop when Thomas is safe from the mugging. Virgil keeps going, trying to be loud enough to snap the others from the shock, being overbearing and overprotective in his attempts to meet everyone's needs. To make sure everyone is okay.

There's a selfish reason that he focuses outward so hard, though. Cuz making sure everyone is okay means he doesn't have to look inward, doesn't have to think about the fact that... he liked it.

Not taking control, exactly.

Just... usually, anxiety is analysis that paralyzes Thomas in place. Freezes, panic attacks, hesitation, logic traps, endless looping-- for both him and Thomas, anxiety usually means lack of control.

But this time? The anxiety felt more like... something Virge used, not something that controlled him.

And Virgil liked that. Wanted more of it.

And Virgil doesnt see the difference between wanting to feel that again, and wanting Thomas to be in danger. He looks at both and sees the same thing-- can't have the feeling without the danger.
