Ohoho, the ot3. You know I love talking about the ot3. In terms of dynamic (and as is always the case), Retvja makes everything a little more straightforward. He doesn't really have time for nonsense in the way Aubrey and Lysander do, and he's... decidedly less dramatic about everything.

That said, he's also very, very baffled that the two people he loves most in the world seem to want to pull him into a romantic relationship. Especially as he's pretty certain Lysander is unhealthily obsessed with Damas. (He's not wrong; he's just missed that Lysander is also unhealthily obsessed with him as well.)

I think the key to the ot3 dynamic is that Retvja and Aubrey are childhood friends, whereas Lysander and Retvja are adult friends.

Retvja and Lysander in some ways have a day to day closer relationship that Aubrey and Retvja - they spend most of their time together, they both work towards the same purpose (i.e. their Aubrey-related duties), and Retvja is the one who actually did most of the hard work when it came to teaching Lysander practical things like how to fight.

However, while they are both softer with Aubrey than they are with each other, they're also both very aware that Aubrey Draxios is a dangerous creatures who will absolutely protect them to the best of his ability. So they try to behave themselves. They also dote on Damas, and try to find ways to coddle him without him realising it.

All of that means Lysander and Retvja have an unspoken agreement to not cause enough trouble that Damas will start burning down worlds, and Damas has an unspoken agreement with Lysander and Retvja that he will allow them to get away with anything (up to and including murder).

I also think Damas is a little insecure because he thinks (to start with) that his relationship with the two of them isn't as strong as it is with each other, which results in his usual Damas Avoidance System.

in the event this breaches containment from the ToA fandom to the wider world of tumblr, please note that this post was written about the fictionalized versions of emperors caligula, commodus and nero in the trials of apollo series. it is based off their personalities therein, not the people who actually existed

in no particular order;

Commodus: Pretends he thinks it's funny. In actuality, he does NOT like all those posts floating around about how funny it is when a Roman leader gets killed by the people around him, because it's a sore subject. But again, acts like he also thinks it is very funny and he's in on the joke because Commodus is very concerned about coming off a certain way, and getting upset about the Ides of March trend would NOT help him being actually, totally in control of himself and not suffering from a deep hole in his heart from Apollo's betrayal that taints every moment he spends alive.

Caligula: Pretends he's unbothered and doesn't care at all. Does in fact care very much. Much like Commodus (actually even more so), he is 100% projecting himself onto this and getting pissy. This is the man who repeatedly changes his guards because he's paranoid about the time he was killed when the people around him turned. He structures his entire life around making sure that is NEVER going to happen again, and finds out modern people think it's FUNNY? Thank the GODS this meme is about Caesar's stabbing and not Caligula's murder, or he actually would've fucking lost it.

So! As some of you may know, I've been working on a traditional fansite for The Trials of Apollo, and at some point I'd like to have a fanfiction archive there.

Thing is... it would likely be a very antiquated style of fanfiction site. Instead of the authors publishing directly, like on AO3 or Wattpad or even Fanfiction dot net, the author would instead e-mail the fanfic directly to me & I would update the archive once or twice a week with any new fanfics I received.

It's not ideal, but the tradeoff would be complete freedom with customization. If you were to e-mail the fic to me as an HTML file, you could make it look however you want. I'd even accept accompanying images & CSS files.

Not that coding would be required, of course. I'd also accept plain text/rich text/etc, it would just look like the rest of the site.

(This is, of course, part of my grand evil plan to teach the entire Trials of Apollo fandom to code.)

Would this fandom be interested in something like that?

While knowing my father did this to me and wants me to die while the people I have spent several thousands of years with do nothing but watch and bet on my death. Knowing why and they won't ever intervene because I have been to position and have done same thing over and over again.

Thats how apollo feels after being back in Olympus. Kinda like an uncanny valley effect where he feels too perfect to be real, yk?

So he purposefully makes himself look a bit imperfect if he's not in his lester-form. A little messed up hair there, a some light eyebags here and so on.

And then you have lit.

He HATES his scars now, it reminds him of the people he had to kill, the endless fights he has to endure.

He wishes we wasn't marred, and can't for the life of him understand why apollo doesn't want to be perfect.

And apollo wants him to feel perfect, so he spends all day and night kissing his scars, praising his beauty and trying to make him feel better about himself
