hell I read the Warriors books voraciously as a child. Into the Wild is the only book in the first arc that's shorter than 300 pages. reading a 310-page book in a single day is impressive; reading it at all is not

Also, reading to kids is a thing. My daughter wants to read The Wizard of Oz, but she doesn't have the mental stamina to do it all by herself yet (we're working on it, but it's a slow process) so she reads the beginning of each chapter and then I read the rest of the chapter to her.

I need to see Cas tuck one of Dean's unruly curls behind his ear. And Dean just. Lean into his touch, like a kitten. Cas giving Dean comfort and warmth, so effortlessly. Cupping his cheek while they never break eye contact until Dean's eyes start filling up with tears and Cas just cannot stay away at arms length any longer, he needs to be closer, needs to cover the entirety of Dean, needs to keep him safe. And he needs it sooner than humanly possible to cross the 30 centimeters between them so he flaps his wings and flies to Dean and Dean will never know he did that because human eyes aren't capable of registering more than 60 frames but for a timeless creature sixtieth of a second can be an eternity the same way a century can be a blip and all of Cas' centuries were blips before he met Dean so he's not going to waste another eternal second being away from Dean. He bends time and space in the shape of Dean's curved back, stretching the cosmic matter as he reaches out to envelop Dean and thinks "Just like a black hole and the light destined to be swallowed, the two of us." And then Dean brushes his lips against his and Cas forgets physics.
