in all this public discourse over miss rona revealing which workers have the “real” value, just want to say that if you’ve lost your job and income because your work has been deemed unessential during this time, what you do, what you did, is not a valueless contribution to society by default. especially if you’re a creative worker, casual worker, or in retail, your work is valued and we’re all sorry for its loss. promoting the idea that only essential services are valuable is weirdly classist. the virus has not revealed what work is truly “valuable” its exposed capitalism as a system that does not support an infrastructure where all work is valued for its contribution, regardless of profit potential and societal maintenance.

I LOVE how my own community has forced me to hate my own identity. Forced me to feel like anything i do revolving it is me making it my whole identity, forcing the reason we’re oppressed onto me because i’m giving them a reason to hate us. Because i’m forcing it down people throats, right? My identity doesn’t even feel like my own anymore, it doesn’t feel real. I’ve never really even talked about it. I’ve never really been loud about it. yet everyone online and offline within the community telling people who are loud and proud to shut the fuck up made me feel like i couldn’t.

So to all the young kids like me. Homophobic will never be YOUR fault. Transphobia will never be YOUR fault. Lesphobia will never be YOUR fault. Biphobia will NEVER EVER BE YOUR FAULT. No matter how many flags you have, no matter how you express your sexuality\gender it will never ever be your fault.

Don’t let your own community force you to hate yourself. Don’t let them tell you you’re too much. Don’t let them silence you. Our ancestors fought for us to wear our flags with pride, to talk about our identity openly. They fought for our freedom of self expression and i refuse to let it be ripped away when we only just got it.

and fuck you to everyone trying to force us into not being ourselves.
