generalized anxiety disorder is kind of a funny diagnosis...like this bitch is scared just in general
having adhd means i get special vip access to new emotions, such as Evil Boredom. its boredom but it turns me evil
what the fuck do you mean âoverstimulatedâ I acted like that because I absorbed all the noises and stress and textures from the grocery store because Iâm an empath

PARKS AND RECREATION (2009-2015)
4.12 Campaign Ad | dir. Dean Holland
One of the most important survival skills as an adult is internalising the idea that other people being rude or dismissive towards you for no apparent reason, is most often a reflection of their problems (shitty attitude, bad day, work stress, family stress) and usually has nothing to do with you.
How the heck did this get 200+ notes in 15 minutes?
I think one of the most damaging ideologies towards children is the conviction that having children isnât a calling but a moral obligation.
Not to be a crazy radical or anything, but children deserve to be deeply wanted by their parents.
Children shouldnât be a âstageâ in life that everyone is obligated to fulfill; childrearing is not for everyone. More importantly, children shouldnât be state-enforced punishments for âirresponsibleâ sexual behavior.
Children are people with thoughts and feelings just like the rest of us. They are conscious of the way people treat them. And they can certainly tell when they are unwanted and/or resented.
[ID: tumblr tags. they are: #reblog #i also dont think its enough to want a child. i think you need to want a teenager and an adult too #my mom wanted a baby. when i was too old to pronounce spaghetti wrong and let her put me in church dresses she was done with me #my dad wanted a person. he wanted a baby a child a tween a teen and an adult #my dad wanted to watch a person happen. which was different. /end ID.]
Boosting all of the above signal.
You also need to be prepared for that child to grow into a teen, young adult, and full grown adult who is going to form their own ideas based on their own individual experiences. Youâre going to need to understand that the world is always changing and we, as humans, will always stumble upon new discoveries. I feel like a lot of older adults are confronted with new ideas from their adult children, and instead of learning from them, they shut them down and get defensive.
Donât do that shit. Parents have just as much to learn from their adult children as their children have to learn from them.

things i have seen/experienced working in a toy store:
⢠a customer asking me if boys like coloring
⢠a customer telling her daughter she canât give out ice cream stickers for party favors because there will be boys there
⢠an older couple laughing about how thereâs a pink toy sword because a boy would never play with a pink toy sword (because i guess boys canât like pink and girls donât play with toy swords. also it wasnât even pink it was red lol)
⢠a customer refusing to buy a snail robot kit for his nephew because it was âtoo cute for a boyâ
⢠a customer sharply reminding me she was buying a gift for a boy when i suggested play food
⢠a customer telling her daughter she needed to pick a different birthday card for her friend because the one she chose had a pink envelope (her friend was a boy)
⢠a customer asking what a boy would like for valentineâs day instead of the stuffed dogs she was getting for the girls
⢠a customer getting upset when my coworker used blue ribbon on a gift bag because the present was for a girl
⢠a customer saying a toy guitar was âtoo girlyâ for her grandson, based only on the fact that the box had a picture of a girl playing with it (the guitar was red with yellow music notes)
but yeah, trans people have some real weird ideas about gender
not to be all âthink of the childrenâ but the fact that companies can openly admit to using methods to intentionally form addictions in children and weâre not killing their ceos in the streets yet is astounding
when I say âkids now donât know how to disconnectâ or âkids donât know how to be bored anymoreâ i donât mean âkids should sit in a white room in a solitary chair eating saltines and never touch technologyâ i mean âkids are losing the essential ability to imagine and create their own play because they have a constant 24/7 stream of more overstimulating material than they could ever watch at their fingertips, and when this stimulation is removed they literally donât know what to do with themselvesâ
when I say âkids are addicted to video gamesâ I donât mean âah these darn kids and their dag-blasted Atarisâ I mean âvideo games are being purposefully designed to squeeze as much money/ad engagement out of the individual consumer as possible and mechanisms like lootboxes and season passes are intentionally engineered to create addictionâ
i know itâs purely anecdotal but every time i think about that toddler who told his dad âdonât forget to like and subscribeâ at bedtime because he thought it was how you said goodbye to people i feel sick
Not to sound like a boomer but playing in mud, using sticks for swords and guns, and gathering plants for potions are all vital to childhood
He was an activist who inspired millions to fight for their rights. He knew what was wrong with our country and risked his life to help his people achieve equality. Â In the society where black were treated like animal he did everything possible to change this. His brave soul, his will and courage changed the history of America , changed the people. He made us believe we can win this war. He payed for it with his life. He will always be remembered.

i wonder how many people immediately canceling their subscriptions it took for them to pull back on this
The streamer said future plans for these measures will be communicated ahead of time.
Yeah itâs important to note that this is not the same as WotC claiming that the âdraftâ they sent out with contracts was just a draft.
Netflix still fully intends to roll out anti-sharing measures by March, they just didnât intend to post them on their site this early (supposedly).
So keep canceling subscriptions until they realize that allowing password sharing is about the only thing that was keeping them as a viable streamer anymore lmao
and also like, the rules we were complaining about do actually apply in chile, costa rica, and peru, and while most people on this website aren't affected directly, that is still fucked up, and we should still be pissed off

Teachers have tried this and are amazed when their classes donât go feral like in the book. Itâs almost as if the book was supposed to be satire and not a treaty on the nature of humanity.
thereâs a timeskip
THEREâS A TIMESKIP
THEREâS A TIMESKIP
THEREâS A TIMESKIP
after losing control of the signal fire thereâs a FUCKING TIMESKIP and when the next chapter starts everyoneâs hair is several inches longer and their clothes have rotted to shreds and theyâre still just kind of chilling!!!!
IT TAKES THE TERRIBLE IMPERIALISM MIND-POISONED EXCESSIVELY BRITISH BOYS IN THE ACTUAL BOOK SEVERAL MONTHS TO COMMIT A SINGLE ACT OF INTENTIONAL VIOLENCE, EVEN THE ONE (1) CHILD WRITTEN AS AN ACTUAL SOCIOPATH
AND then when they DO turn on each other it is because
THEREâS AN UNSPECIFIED WORLD WAR HAPPENING
AND A PILOTâS CORPSE CRASH LANDS ON THE ISLAND POST-DOGFIGHT AND THE CHILDREN MISTAKE THE PARACHUTE FOR A MONSTER AND SPIRAL INTO PARANOIA
BECAUSE CHILDREN INHERIT THE LEGACY AND TRAUMA OF VIOLENCE FROM THE ADULTS WAGING WAR AROUND THEM
HURR DURR IN THE REAL WORLD IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN LIKE IN LORD OF THE FLIES -
IT DIDNâT HAPPEN THAT WAY IN LORD OF THE FLIES EITHER YOU JUST HAVENâT READ IT SINCE HIGH SCHOOL IF EVER AND DONâT REMEMBER WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN THE GODDAMN BOOK
#tbf the dude wrote it to be a dick
yes. yes he did. iâm also gonna direct you to the real life âlord of the fliesâ which occured in the 1960s, when six tongan schoolboys got stranded on a desert island for over a year before being rescued by an australian fisherman (who, it should be noted, later took on all six as crewmembers because the reason they were out in the first place was because they wanted to see the world, and named his ship the Ata after the island they were stranded on). nobody died. the only injuries that occurred were accidental, and when one of the boys broke his leg falling down a cliff, the others braced it and looked after him so well that it healed perfectly. if they argued, then they would literally go to opposite sides of the island until theyâd cooled off. after leaving the island, they remained friends for the rest of their lives. hereâs a photo of them as adults, with their rescuer (who is third from the left) and other members of his crew.
i read about this in rutger bregmanâs human kind, a book i cannot recommend highly enough, but if you donât want to go and read a whole book about the inherent goodness of humanity (which again, you really should) then the relevant excerpt can be found here.
ok WOW definitely consider reading the article, these boysâSione, Stephen, Kolo, David, Luke and Manoâshowed tremendous cooperation as well as the ability to share and farm scarce resources, and to care for each other in times of sickness and injury. Not only that, by the time they were finally rescued, âthe boys had set up a small commune with food garden, hollowed-out tree trunks to store rainwater, a gymnasium with curious weights, a badminton court, chicken pens and a permanent fire, all from handiwork, an old knife blade and much determination.â
They were all between the ages of 13 and 16 at the time of the shipwreck. And from the very beginning they recognized the importance of co-operation and resource-sharingâstarting with sharing rainwater equally while they were adrift for 8 days without food or fresh water.
And here is an interview with one of the survivors (Sione Totau, now 73 years old)
