In this AU, Thorax is a special little guy born not to be a drone but to create new eggs for the Hive; a secondary or brood queen who has no real authority inside the Hive and makes eggs instead of the primary or "true" Queen. Chrysalis was incredibly upset to NEED to create Thorax, because in doing so, she was admitting to herself and her subjects that she was no longer able to do something that should be natural for her. Alas.
Pharynx may only be Thorax's personal guard, but he got attached rather quickly even if he didn't want to admit it. They see each other as brothers due to it.
If I had a nickel for every "big sibling + baby sibling" dynamic in this show...
