The ending of GO is so great actually. In the second season they showed us a love story between two bosses first (Gabriel and Beelzebub). They literally had nobody to answer except maybe to God, but as we know, she didn't care. They didn't give a shit about humans. So they had that power to just... leave everything and everyone and go into the sunset together.

But Crowley and Azi are something else. They actually CARED about people and Earth. Through all the history of humanity they observed and learned. They made real friends, they made people better or even ruined them sometimes. They got so so close to being human, except they couldn't. Because they were part of a system that would always be superior to people. And they just couldn't have it. (Really grateful for their transformation here. How Crowley learned to care about people in general and Azi - about one person. They achieved this through each other)
