i hate when people are like “ohhh hamlet is such an emo teenager” like no you don’t get it. you don’t get the very basic premise of the goddamn play. hamlet is a gay clinically depressed lutheran college student who is grieving his father while having to face his very complex relationship with his family and generational trauma and god and other people in his life while also wrestling with a moral dilemma that would be distressing to any of us so it kind of makes sense that he would be more than a little moody and if you think hamlet would listen to anything other than sufjan stevens you might wanna revisit the original text
