so the only thing I don’t agree with you here is “ooc slop”. ooc is not “slop”. nothing is “slop” as long as it’s written with love and the person who writes it enjoys it. I may not agree with antis’ opinions, but I will never resort to insulting their fics just because I don’t agree with their views or their characterization of the characters.

there’s nothing wrong with ooc. canon is only a suggestion anyway. how much of it a writer will follow, if any, is entirely up to them. and the fun part about writing fanfics is that writers have full freedom to write whatever they want, however they want, so if someone only enjoys writing fluff, then that does not mean their fluff fic is less than other writers’ taboo fics.

more often than not, an ooc fic is just a fic written by someone who interprets the character differently from how you interpret them. but that doesn’t mean their way of interpreting the character is wrong. it doesn’t mean your way of interpreting the same character is wrong either. two people can interpret the same character differently, and both interpretations are valid. fanfic is literally “this is my own version/my own interpretation of the character I love”, therefore there is no wrong way to write/interpret it.

but even if someone deliberately writes an ooc fic, that still doesn’t mean their fic is less than other fics. ooc is fun. you got to explore new sides of the character that aren’t shown in canon.

a lot of people who are proship love lighter versions of fanfics about their favorite characters.

a lot of people who are proship do NOT like dark fics.

and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with their preferences.

It's one thing to point out that people should avoid giving money to these creators. I agree! Don't do that! But as long as they're consciously avoiding that, it's not fucking immoral for them to not want to leave those fandoms behind entirely. THEY ARE JUST AS MUCH COVERED UNDER "PRO-FICTION" AS ANYTHING ELSE.

But it's extremely telling that none of you, NONE OF YOU, had anything to say about why FNAF is unacceptable to enjoy despite Scott Cawthon doing quite literally the same shit as Rowling. NONE OF YOU had anything to say about it being bad to like Rurouni Kenshin despite the author being charged with possession of CSEM. NONE OF YOU had anything to say about the creator of The Walten Files using his posterity and popularity to levy false abuse allegations against an innocent person. NONE OF YOU had anything to say about the inclusion of ALFRED'S FUCKING PLAYHOUSE on this list, despite Emily Youcis being an actual, self-proclaimed Nazi.

If one of these things is unacceptable to enjoy (even when ensuring no monetary gain on the part of the creator), then you need to nut up and admit that it applies to all of them. And yet the only one that got any kind of reactionary response was Harry Potter.

The severity of these issues is irrelevant; none of them are things you'd want to support the creators doing. Yet only one seems to matter to the "Well, I'm profiction, except for..." crowd.

So to the frustration of many of you I'm sure, I'm doubling down on the statement that anyone who takes issue with this post is not pro-fiction, no matter how staunchly they claim otherwise. The stupid behavior shown on this post by people co-opting a term that is not meant for them would never be accepted or tolerated in profic spaces. No matter how justified you think you might be in this case, you WILL get warned and/or banned from any space that isn't run by fancops.

Water is way more hydrating than soda, but soda is more hydrating than nothing. A balanced meal is way more nutritious than ice cream, but ice cream is more nutritious than nothing.

Something is better than nothing. Some hydration is better than no hydration. Some nutrients are better than no nutrients. Some produce is better than no produce.

If an adult is stalking your profile and saying nasty things to try and get you to respond, don't engage with them. Block and report them. Responding and trying to "win" the argument only gives them what they want.

Imagine. A grown adult starting beef with a kid to feel more powerful. See how pathetic that is?

No matter what any adult stranger says about you online, you're loved. Nobody is out to get you, nobody is going to hurt you. If someone threatens you with a dox, you block the person and you report them to tumblr. Do not give them any information because a lot of adults are very good at manipulating minors into giving them more information to use against them.

You have people who care about you. You have people who love you. You are not a bad person, you're growing. It's okay to grow, it's okay to make mistakes. What's not okay, is cyberstalking a kid to feel better about yourself.

If any adults reading this feel called out by this post, you're the problem babe.

You don't owe anybody your tears. Be the bigger person, be happier just for the hell of it. That is the best way to kick a petty bitch in the teeth.
