ok but legitimately i think the reason why kids aren’t taking internet safety seriously is because the people who are telling us not to put our personal information out seem so out of touch. no one acknowledges the possibility of meeting very real teenaged friends online, they always say that everyone you meet is a 40 year old white man in disguise. because they aren’t acknowledging things we know are true, it becomes a lot easier to dismiss the rest of what they’re saying as well. internet safety lessons absolutely must keep up with the times and acknowledge the internet’s capacity for good if you want kids to take to heart warnings about its capacity for bad.

Some actual safety tips for teenagers:

1. Have proof they're a teenager first. More than just a picture, have a video call with them.

2. If you want to meet up with them, have your parents or a trusted adult come with you. Even if they are a proven teenager, its still good to have supervision in case any issues happen.

3. If you are talking to an adult, and they start being sexual in any way, you run the fuck away. It doesn't matter if they're 40 or 20. An adult inherently has a power dynamic that teenagers do not. And its up to the adult to act responsible about it. There's exceptions of course, if you're 16 and dating an 18 year old, that's not a problem, we're not talking about that.

4. Being in a server with adults or ran by adults is not inherently bad. Talking to adults is not inherently a problem, and will likely happen in any number of Discord servers. It is only an issue when they are acting sexual and show predatory behavior.

5. Look out for grooming behavior. It can be difficult, because at first it seems like innocuous behavior, like complimenting or giving gifts. Especially if you feel lonely and have low self esteem. And groomers actively target people like that.

If they start trying to isolate you, talk sexual with you, state they depend on you for emotional needs, blame you for their own actions, try to be secretive about the relationship- Then you need to talk to people you trust, block the perpetrator, and call the police on them.

6. If this does happen to you, remember this: It is not your fault. Even if you didn't listen to a single thing listed here, it is not your fault. It is the fault of the adults who knew better, and didn't care. It's not your fault.

GoS reupload time #2: Rugs! 40 of them! I think I made these for one of the treasure hunts back in... 2012? It was a very long time ago. Some of these I actually still use a ton to this day, a couple of them of them... aren't what I'd go for now but hopefully there's something for everyone in there. There's two meshes, one is repo'd to the other (I think the smaller one is the main mesh) and they're both included.

NOTE: THIS IS OLD CC. The file names are full of unnecessary punctuation such as brackets, dashes and spaces (which was the style at the time). You're probably going to want to remove all of that for optimal file loading times (would recommend a bulk file rename tool). One day I'll get around to replacing the uploaded files but today is not that day.

So many anti-science (and particularly, anti-vax) people apply their diet and orthorexia culture to medicine. That is one of the things you will hear over and over again. “I actually read the ingredients of this vaccine and it has [SUBSTANCE] in it so I will not let my child get vaccinated.” which is exactly how these people grocery shop, I’m sure. No understanding of chemistry, no research into why that ingredient is in there, what it is doing to help make the vaccine safe and effective and what amount would make it toxic to the human body. They will be like “Oh my god, there is hydrochloric acid in there! I’m not going to research into why it is in there (in small amounts as a PH stabilizer), it’s hydrochloric acid (the human body creates it naturally) and they’re trying to inject this into our children!”

i would almost love to meet one of these people and say ah yes i love drinking Dihydrogen Monoxide with heavy amounts of Citric Acid, Glucose and Limonene (this is a very terrible lemonaid) these ingredients are water, the sour of a lemon, sugar, and lemon flavoring

Unironically, I saw someone say to avoid citric acid in food products (it’s a common preservative and acidifier, very safe in moderation, occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables) because it is made of black mold. Which is partially correct, Aspergillus niger produces high amounts of citric acid when fed properly BUT the mold is completely filtered out of the final refined product. SO MANY FOOD PRODUCTS ARE MADE WITH MOLD, this one doesn’t have actual mold in it, you are fearmongering about the evils of mold while it lives all around us all the time!

I liked these walls from Crystal Creations, but I wasn't a fan of the original molding, so I (re)converted them and added dark moldings and panels by Shasta. Comes in the original 14 colors, and categorized as wallpaper / paneling accordingly :)

H&M Knitted Top Separated

I cut it off from an outfit by Dutchxfan, but it's basically a shorter top version of the Knitted Dress. For teens, adults, and elders, they have the appropriate morphs. Repo'd and pinned, so the H&M SP is required! Pictured with the necklace-less texture edit by Anna, because I forgot to take it out of my game.

Beetlewing Eyes

Does the world need another Beetle Eyes variant? Probably not, but you're getting one anyway!

These are squea's Beetle Eyes with pupils enlarged to match plumbhead's Delicate Eyes (minicule's 4t2 conversion), irises given some texture from kahlena's Hypnotic Eyes (inspired by simstationdance's Ladybug Eyes), all on xiasimla's 4t2 Beetle Eyes sclera.

It includes defaults, 39 natural(ish) colors, 7 alien colors, and 8 supernatural colors (inspired by the Beetle Eyes fairy swatches). You can choose custom, geneticized-only*, or geneticized* + townified.

I've also thrown in a template file (XCF/GIMP format) for making your own colors and PNGs for making your own vampire/werewolf/plantsim/zombie overlays.

*Genetics are based on simnopke's More Realistic Genetics. All blues are recessive (2), all greens and hazels are in-between (1.5), and all browns are dominant (1). Purples, pinks, and bright red/oranges are recessive to all natural colors (3).
