Another point a lot of people miss, is that all of these weren't designed specifically for CRTs, they were designed on them. The blurriness, the details we see in the CRT version are precisely what the artists and designers saw when they were testing and developing the game. I wouldn't be surprised if a good percentage of designers and coders had never even seen how "blocky" they looked before the modern age (even if they printed them, they would still be blurred due to the quality of printers at the time)
