what makes transmisandry not a thing compared to transmisogyny? I know trans women experience a very specific (and severe) sort of discrimination but I guess my assumption would be that trans men would also have their own unique bigotry they face? I'm not at all trying to argue with you, im just not trans and I'm trying to understand the difference, I guess
Misandry is not real lol thats why
Transmisogyny is an intersection of transphobia and misogyny—that doesnt mean that it’s transphobia+misogyny, it means that there is a very specific oppression that trans women face bc we are transgender women. Trans men absolutely do face transphobia, and some of the issues they face (one example, access to hysterectomies/abortion/etc) are issues that trans women dont experience. But looking at that example, trans men are denied that because of the systemic oppression of trans people, but they aren’t denied that access because of any systemic oppression of men.
Many people will look at this situation though, and say “well, but denial of reproductive rights like this against women IS misogyny!” Which is absolutely correct. But trans men aren’t women. Hence, trans men dont face misogyny. When trans men are seen as women and treated in the derogatory way that society treats women, this is NOT misogyny. This is transphobia. The root of this oppression is transphobic bigotry, not bigotry against women. Stop seeing this as “misdirected misogyny” because it resembles misogyny—remember that we must identify systemic discrimination by its root cause, the bigotry, and not by appearance. Trans women being denied access to condoms and cis women being denied access to birth control are both situations where women are being denied agency of their own reproduction. These are actually not separate issues, but the same issue with different solutions depending on the indivdual (remember for cis women, an iud may be the right solution for one, while for another the pill is the solution. The answer being condoms does not make this a separate issue).
Your confusion is likely coming from a perspective of viewing transmisogyny to mean “transphobia directed against trans women” and if that was the case, then yea you could argue that “transmisandry” would exist. But that isnt what transmisogyny means.
I hope that this helped, honestly. You can ask if anything here isnt clicking with you, and i’ll try to explain better.
