remember the time i pitched a longform piece to buzzfeed and the editor was like, “this sure is an interesting idea, how about you write this entire 12,000-word article on spec and then i’ll take a look at it and see if i like it enough to publish it and pay you for it” and i was like, “no, i want some assurance that you will publish my work and pay me for my labour before i spend several months researching and reporting and writing this piece, that is standard in this industry,” and she never replied to me, and i eventually pitched it to another publication with a fraction of buzzfeed’s budget and got paid literally thousands of dollars. bc i think about that a lot.

it’s almost like buzzfeed isn’t real journalism

no, buzzfeed is real journalism, buzzfeed’s news team won a pulitzer, it’s just that buzzfeed’s management is made up of grifters and their greed has penetrated every level of the publication! effed up!

Toddlers are so pure. She doesn’t understand that we help her with certain things because she’s little. She thinks that everyone just helps each other like that. So she tries to blow on my food and cut it up for me and tries to help me put on my shoes.

i was giving little wagon rides to a baby around the backyard one day and all of a sudden she hops off and slaps the seat of the wagon telling me to get on because it was my turn and i was like no it’s ok im too heavy and she was like NO ITS UR TURN and kept tugging on my hand so i would sit down. eventually i got on and it was just a little 2 year old trying so hard to push me around on a wagon not understanding why it wouldn’t budge but still so determined to let me have my turn lol

I love when my toddler asks me to help her with her toy or something and she is all “good job, mama! Great work!” And encouraging because that’s what you do!

This comic meant a whole lot to me. It was sincere in its depiction and treated the issue through the eyes of a grounded person. Not some godly hero saying everything is better than it seems, but a person trying his best before bringing her somewhere who can actually help.

Also notice how fucked up the “he isn’t hurting the people he’s supposed to be hurting” mentality is, like it’s admitting you voted for him cause you thought he would be hurting people just the ones you don’t like

we’ve started feeding this tortoiseshell-point siamese recently. she’s beautiful, aside from the fact she has disturbingly big, bulging blue eyes. we’ve started calling her… ‘goop’
