Sora smiles like he always does, the fake smile he puts on. But the light dims, little by little. Whenever he's about to shatter, he remembers Donald's words about the Gummi Ship running on smiles, so he keeps on smiling.
But that was the excuse he used. When was the last time he had a genuine smile on his face, one not contorted by what he's been through? He's been anxious, unable to cool his nerves.
But he did it to himself. He accepts this, but it doesn't change a thing. He knows his own problem but refuses to change it. What confidence does he have without others? What power does he have without others? What is he when stripped away from all he knows, those chains that stretch to nothingness? What then?
Will he fade, will he cease? Who is Sora when he is no longer performing? Is he still that smiley boy, that hopeful boy? Will the character that is him melt away and reveal the actor underneath? Or are they one and the same?
He broke under the weight once. The Graveyard that harboured the keys of wielders long since forgotten. The facade, the actor, everything. The Martyr, deified, finally showed his mortal form, crumbling against the darkness, insecurity overflowing.
This was the real him, or was this the pressure finally cracking the diamond he was meant to be? He could no longer smile; he could no longer hope; his powers failed him.
Without them... he was nothing. To him, they gave him everything- the reason why he succeeded.
But this was his own folly; Sora still lacked an understanding. Although constantly praised by those around him for his understanding of the heart and the connections around them, he failed to understand the worth of himself.
He threw himself at everything, making himself useful, pushing the negativity to the depths of his soul. He was bound to break.
Although he bragged about connections, it was a one-way street; he harboured everything, whilst refusing to share what weighed on him. Had he no faith in those around him? Or was it fear that they might forsake him for his weakness?
Sora had to be strong. Sora was the source of solutions. Sora was the Messiah who was crucified by the expectations imposed on oneself and the expectations projected by others.
He was the net for all whilst neglecting to cast his own.
And so he awakens to a land unknown, a world so foreign that even his expertise on new worlds does not aid him. He's tired, so, so tired. He wants to close his eyes; to get away from the world, to no longer suffer.
Yet even in death, he has to work beyond his breaking point.
