I understand that obscure interview knowledge can be lost easily in fandom, but I've been seeing some ancient misinformation float around in the fandom lately and this is bothering me a little.
The reason Sora can wield a keyblade is not because of Ventus.
Even though Riku was the rightful owner of the Keyblade, then why did Sora obtain the Keyblade in the beginning?

Yes he does have connections with Ventus' heart, among others, but he hasn't inherited anything from them. He's just a normal boy you could find anywhere. I think people might be confusing things with his quote of the dual wield being related to Ventus:
Why can Roxas dual-wield?
A: Because he can use both Sora’s and Ventus’ keyblades. Sora can wield two keyblades at once because he has Ventus’ as well as his own. As Roxas is a part of Sora, he also can use two. In Days Roxas awakened his ability to dual wield after fighting Xion. In KHII once Sora absorbs him, he can also dual-wield. (details)
Forgive me for using reddit and gamefaq as sources but these are so old the original translation sources are livejournal (dead) and khinsider/kh13 (so far back I started foaming at the mouth after scrolling for 20 minutes).
