Not gonna lie, the Quirrell/Lockhart pairing is iconic and I’m so glad I found it through your blog. It’s so perfect.
Thank you so much 💙 I’m really glad you found it! I think this is my very first Quirrellhart ask, so I’m over the moon.
I also thank you for taking a minute right in the middle of your book launch, that’s very kind.
What interests me about Lockhart and Quirrell is that they seem to amplify one another’s worst traits, but in a way that keeps them stable.
They lay the groundwork for that dynamic as Ravenclaw students, and that deepens when they reconnect as adults.
Lockhart is affectionate, but always in the service of his own image. He’ll choose that first, every time. Quirrell knows and stays anyway.
After his experience with the Dark Lord, Quirrell is hungry enough for connection that this arrangement works for him.
With Lockhart, he gets open regard at a far lower cost.
So while it looks unbalanced from the outside, it’s closer to equilibrium than it seems.
