On behalf of Penn State Teach Ag! we want to extend a HUGE thank you for your support this last year as we "tried" tumblr. Life is about embracing adventures and challenges. It means trying new things. In efforts to reach a brand new audience, Penn State Teach Ag! tried tumblr; we embraced the adventures and challenges and we enjoyed the ride! However, it has been decided to focus our efforts, and continue to try, new and upcoming social media platforms to share our story.

Thanks for being a part of our tumblr adventure!! We hope that you learned a little and maybe, just maybe thought (even for one super quick second) about becoming an Agricultural Educator and CHANGING THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE.

As of a week from today (6/10/2013) the Penn State Teach Ag tumblr will be disabled. But we don't want you to forget about us! Find Penn State here...

Teach Ag! at Penn State is Arizona Bound! A "Domestic Study Abroad" will take thirteen super awesome Agricultural and Extension Education students to six different Agricultural Education Programs across the state of Arizona and two national parks. They'll be covering 900 miles in 8 short days!

Believe it or not, there is a national shortage of Agriculture Teachers. Yes, that is right, a national shortage of motivators, advisors, educators, positive agents of change! Agricultural and Extension Education needs you!! 

Clearly, Agricultural Education is key to the preservation of industry we all love and cannot live without. The Teach Ag! Campaign in affiliation with the National Association of Agricultural Educators, presented these numbers at the 2013 Agricultural Education Summit...

There are 7700 Agricultural Education programs in the United States.

95.5 NEW Agricultural Education programs opened this year.

500 Teachers will retire in the next 3 years.

140 Programs are operating this year with an Agricultural Educator that is alternatively certified.

19 programs closed to the lack of qualified Agricultural Education teaching candidates 

Agricultural Education programs cannot afford to let some of these numbers continue to decrease. So think about it! Maybe, just maybe, Agricultural and Extension Education is for you? Remember, WE NEED YOU!
