Just got into a discussion on discord about all the missed opportunities where the writers could’ve put cool farm stuff into the show. And then the topic of 4H came up.
Anyway I present one of the worst pictures I’ve ever drawn

The 4-H Fiber Project is well into its second year! This year we got fleeces from Finnegan, Lily, and Belinda to process and turn into fundraising items for the 4-H. Maybe it'll help them one day get a barn instead of being stuck in a TENT all week.
Also, I'm in love with wool combs and have made it through nearly half of Lily's lovely fiber. It's been a month. How is it going this quickly?
Agility competition last week was so, so rough. Pumpkin did not perform well. This 4-H project though—these people are incredible! The person in charge sat down with E this week and provided some practical suggestions on what to do differently to help both she and Pumpkin move forward.
Today they competed in showmanship and obedience. Our dog, who last week ate an entire bag of hot dog buns off the counter, placed second in obedience. Last year, they didn’t place at all in showmanship. This year, they took first. Woot! Then they got to compete for grand champion. E didn’t win, but again, the judge was so helpful and kind in taking time to explain to E what she needed to do differently.
E came home happy. Pumpkin came home tired. It’s a win for both.
I woke up at 5 this morning because I was feeling anxious about all of it. I’m now home prepping for a 7:30am virtual meeting followed by a 45 minute commute for a full day of in-person meetings.
im sosososososo bored right now I show in like 3(?) ish hours and I have NOTHING to do

A little kid (who I do NOT KNOW) just came up to me at a 4-H meeting I was attending and said:

OK SO
I have lambs for 4-H. I have been showing lambs in 4-H for several years. Every year I read out loud to my lambs to build a bond, and it works really well. BUT. Tonight I forgot to grab a children’s book (what I normally read to them), and all I had was my phone. The only thing for reading on my phone is AO3. I just read a fucking fanfic to my lambs. I am honestly surprised I took this long to happen.

Sorry ladies, animal husbandry is my only love.
