she finds something on the ground and picks it up, spinning it around her fingers.
A young man appears in front of her, his hair just as ginger as hers. She frowns up at him. “Uncle George?” she says, having seen a picture of the now ageing man when he was her age.
the person shakes his head, smiling slightly.
And she knows its the one they lost, the boy that became a hero to her family. Fred.
They talk late into the evening, Fred passing on all his own knowledge and helping her pull off a prank- one that turns the entire third floor into a sandy beach. Complete with crabs that chase the staff away when they try to get it back to normal.
She keeps it secret what she found from everyone, until the end of the year when she is back at the Burrow, which is now three times as big and is open to anyone who needs a place to stay.
She walks up to George, who is half asleep on his chair, and hands him the stone.
“You will want this.” She says.
That night, the twin looks at it, spinning it in his hand.
“Brother.” He hears in a voice he never really forgot.
And he looks up to see his twin, smiling at him, looking just the same as they had in school.
“Its time.” Fred says with a smile, reaching out his slightly translucent hand.
They find George the next day, a smile on his face, a small stone in his hand.
Harry, seeing it, places it in a box, knowing that if they ever needed help in the future, those that they held in their hearts would be just a stones throw away.
