Happy Fatherβs Day.
βWhen I was eight or nine years old, my teacher Mr. Lyons caned me and got me on the wrist. It was swollen and when I got home, I tried to hide it, but my father saw it and the next day he came down to the school and Mr. Lyons was called out of the class and my dad βstuck oneβ on him.β - George Harrison, I Me Mine (1980)
βI remember this time George got caned, George Harrison, βcos we were mates at school, and I mean we never really did anything wrong but we might have like tight trousers and ted hairdos, so that pointed you out as somebody who is a trouble-maker. So George got done once and the teacher missed him, and got him here [on the wrist] β whack β so he had a couple of big weals here, you know, those rash things. And he went home and heβs having his tea with his dad and they were all chatting about how it went at school. And his dad said, βWhatβs that?β when he saw these things, you know, and George said, you know, βTeacher did itβ. So the next day they were in class and somebody poked their head round the door, βErrrm, Mr.,β whoever the teacher was who caned George, βcome out for a moment pleaseβ. And he came out and it was Georgeβs dad there. And he said βDid you do that to my son?β and he goes βYes, I did,β and he goes β whack! [makes punching movement]β (laughter) Oh! Right there. Oh, he was a hero. He was just the school hero then, Georgeβs dad.β - Paul McCartney, Harty With McCartney, 26 November 1984
βYou mean doing the school run? [George] did. He used to be there handing out oranges at half-time. Being a dad was something that he loved. He just loved that time.β - Olivia Harrison, The Times, 24 September 2014
βMy dad was my hero, my best friend.β - Dhani Harrison, Daily Mail, 3 November 2012 (x)

George Harrison in 1982 when he went to Sea World on the Gold Coast (Australia) π€
A Rare George Harrison Song.
It was recorded in 1971 by singer Ronnie (Veronica) Spector, but what happened to the song next is a big mystery!
Ronnie Spector in 1971.
Ronnie Spector was a member of the American girl group of the 60s The Ronettes and since 1968 the wife of legendary producer Phil Spector.
The Beatles and the Ronettes met back in January 1964 at a party in London. Ronnie even told me that George Harrison had a date with her sister Estrella.
And she herself met John Lennon twice, though once with her mother, because John jokingly invited her too!
During the Beatles' first American tour, the two bands met again and went to a nightclub together.
In the same year, Phil Spector produced the single "Ringo, I Love You" by singer Bonnie Jo Mason, better known as Cher.
The Ronettes were the opening act for the Beatles during their last tour in '66, where Phil Spector wouldn't let Ronnie in (because of her relationship with John). In general, the ties between the Beatles and the Ronettes were long-standing.
In the early 70s, Spector participated in many Beatles projects: he produced the band's albumΒ Let It Be, solo works by John and George.
So he came up with the idea that in response, with the help of the Beatles and especially their new company Apple, his wife could start a new round of her career.
Phil Spector with John in 1971.
And in February 1971 Veronica flew to London to record her album. The Abbey Road studio and the musicians who worked with George on his masterpiece All Things Must Pass, as well as songs specially written by Harrison, were waiting for her. It seemed that success was assured for her.
There was also Try Some Buy Some. Ronnie wrote it down (George was playing guitar). And three years later, George himself did it, thanks to which modern masters created their virtual duo.
In addition, there was a Tandoori Chicken song. George was playing the guitar again, and Lennon liked it so much that he even sings along to it.
But Ronnie herself did not share their enthusiasm! She complained that she didn't understand a word about Try Some Buy Some, and Tandoori Chicken was even stranger to her. Therefore, of the entire project, only two of these songs were released as a single, and the idea of an album had to be abandoned.
Phil Spector and George Harrison, 1971
But it is known that another Harrison song was recorded at those sessions/A spector with the name Loverly Laddy Day, George played guitar on it, John could sing along, and Ringo most likely drummed! There is information about this in the studio documents. But no one has ever heard the song itself. It remains to this day George's most mysterious and rare work.
It would be just wonderful if one day it surfaced during the next bonus reissue of George's CDs of that time. It doesn't matter if she's good or not, but it's interesting to hear her.
