You wish it, I dish it

- it was important that a demon stayed in during Halloween

- and even though spike didn’t like to follow the rules

- he reluctantly listened to this one

- nothing good ever came of leaving the crypt on Halloween

- that was just a fact

- and so, you brought Halloween to him

- you rented a bunch of horror videos

- and bought all of his favourite snacks to pair with his blood

- you grabbed a bunch of blankets

- and settled into the first film

- it was very gory and slightly unrealistic

- spike had already begun to shout advice at the killer

- he knew a more effective way of killing the group of teenagers apparently

- he was so dramatic about it you had to laugh

- until his stomach started to growl

- and he got up to make himself some blood after getting hungry

- you stayed glued to the screen

- it was a good bit, you had seen this one

- the music started to get more eerie

- their breathing got louder as they looked around for the killer

- suddenly a hand grabbed your shoulder

- making you jump out of your skin

- “Scared, love?” Spike teased

- he had creeped up behind you on purpose

- you threw a cushion at him, almost splashing his blood on the floor

- he still bounced onto the sofa beside you with a smirk

- each movie you had chosen were Halloween themed

- and each time a jump scare or a tense moment came up Spike teased you

- mercilessly

- you ignored him, focusing on the film

- you cuddled up to him as the films rolled

- pressing lazy kisses against his neck

- as his hands roamed your form distractedly

- it was bliss

- spending a Halloween this way

- you loved him

- and he had never been so comfortable with another

- able to just be himself

- then came Spike’s favourite of the films you had brought over

- eventually you left to use the bathroom

- he complained

- something about you missing the good bit

- but it was all an elaborate ruse

- you waited for a couple of minutes

- you held your breath

- and walked very slowly

- he was glued to the tv though, he wasn’t paying any attention

- “Boo!” You shouted

- leaving him jumping and accidentally rolling off the sofa and onto the floor in a heap

- “scared, love?” You asked teasingly

- not being able to contain your laughter as you helped him back up

- Riley was at a loose end

- he had some leave to take from the Initiative and his command chief insisted he had to take it

- they didn’t want their best soldier burning out

- you has been working a lot lately and he had been lonely

- so you decided to change that

- you took the rest of the week off

- which just so happened to be Halloween weekend

- Riley had never been big on Halloween but he was ready to change that

- mostly for his lovely boyfriend (you) and also because anything would beat sitting and staring blankly out the window of his dorm room

- you had an itinerary

- you knew how much he appreciated a schedule

- firstly you went to the pumpkin patch

- to find the scariest looking pumpkins you could find

- once you had managed to drag them across half of Sunndale you set about carving them

- you accidentally dropped some pumpkin guts on his shoe

- making him throw a little your way

- you laughed as it descending into a sort of food fight

- ending in him pulling you into a kiss

- he smiled into it

- his tongue meeting yours as he deepened the kiss

- it was sweet and pumpkin flavoured

- your pumpkins were left sort of half finished but just as terrifying as they would have been if you had finished

- later on you were walking over to the Bronze for a little Halloween themed party

- you held Riley’s hand tight

- keeping him close mostly so you could admire his costume

- he was a soldier this year

- I mean, he looked best in uniform

- you couldn’t complain

- you got a little thrill still when he introduced you to people he knew at the Bronze as his boyfriend

- he liked to make sure everyone knew

- you had fun dancing and guessing which costumes would win the prize

- you always had fun with him no matter what you were doing

- you even managed to get him to dance

- eventually it was time for the costume competition winners to be announced

- to both of your surprise, Riley was announced as the winner

- well, the uniform was pretty authentic

- he went up to collect his prize

- which was a cheap plastic crown and a free drink at the bar

- “that’s my boyfriend!” You shouted proudly and a bunch of people around you cheered

- he put the crown on your head when he returned and slid an arm around your middle

- you shared the drink before you returned to his place together

- when you woke up, he was nowhere in sight

- even though he was very strong and highly trained, it still worried you

- you knew what Sunnydale could be like even on the demon’s day off

- you didn’t have much chance to be concerned though

- as he returned with a plate and a steaming mug

- he had brought you a “spooky” breakfast in bed

- he had vaguely shaped some pancakes into the shape of a bat

- it made you smile

- only the best for his boyfriend, he insisted pressing a kiss to your forehead as he passed you the plate

- he had really got into the spirit

- after he made another trip to grab his own food you had (spooky) breakfast in bed together

- it became a tradition after that, every Halloween you chose different fun activities

- he always took his leave
