In the off chance anyone comes here: I like video games (mostly, but not exclusively, Nintendo stuff), and have no other real hobbies. Aro, most likely Ace (still trying to figure that one out).
This mainly exists to show what game series I enjoy and have the knowledge to talk about. If you're here because of my various posts and reposts for Palestinian fundraisers, the rules for that are at the bottom, separated from the main section by a line of dashes.
Also, my inbox keeps saying I have 2 more unread messages than I actually do, even while it's empty. If anyone knows how I can fix this, please let me know.
Also, don't just DM me to say "Hi there" or "Hello" or "How are you?" or anything of the sort, especially if we've literally never interacted beforehand.
Game Series that I've experienced enough to be able to speak about:
Super Mario
Donkey Kong
The Legend of Zelda
Kirby
Mega Man
Castlevania
Sonic the Hedgehog
Star Fox
Metroid
Batman Arkham
Insomniac's Spider-Man
1987 TMNT games
Further Explanations
Super Mario: I believe I've at least played every mainline game, and beaten the vast majority of them. I've also beaten the first, third, and fourth Wario Land, Donkey Kong on Game Boy, the first Mario vs Donkey Kong (specifically the remake), Super Mario RPG (original and remake), Paper Mario 64, The Thousand-Year Door (Remake), The Origami King, every Mario & Luigi (including both the original and remade versions of Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story), and Yoshi's Crafted World.
Donkey Kong Country: I've completed all 3 SNES games (including completing DKC3 with the TUFST cheat), Donkey Kong Land 1, 64, Returns, Tropical Freeze, and Bananza. I've also beaten Donkey Kong Land 3, but have no interest in 100%ing it.
The Legend of Zelda: I've only beaten the mainline games (besides Zelda II because I don't really like that game) up to Majora's Mask, as well as Skyward Sword HD, Minish Cap, A Link Between Worlds, and Breath of the Wild (which I plan to replay at a later point. I haven't even come close to finding everything).
Kirby: I have 100%ed every single mainline game, including remakes and their original versions separately.
Mega Man: Beaten every numbered Classic game from 1-11 (as well as the 5 Game Boy games), every X game from 1-8 (including both Xtremes), all 4 Zero games, and both ZX games. I've also beaten the first 2 Battle Networks.
Castlevania: I've beaten every game in the Anniversary and Advance collections, as well as Haunted Castle Revisited and Order of Ecclesia. I plan to get to Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow soon. I don't currently intend to watch the Netflix shows.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Have not played any mainline game between Adventure 2 and Colors (though I will if they get remade or rereleased), or Lost World (besides the 3DS version). Also haven't read the IDW comics. I have seen all of the movies, as well as the tie-in Knuckles series.
Star Fox: I've beaten 1, 2, 64 3D, and Zero. I haven't played any of the others.
Metroid: I've 100%ed every 2D game, as well as Prime 4.
Batman Arkham: 100%ed Asylum and City, 240%ed Knight, beaten Origins, haven't played Shadow yet.
Insomniac's Spider-Man: 100%ed every game, including the first game's DLC.
1987 TMNT games: If it's in the Cowabunga Collection, I've beaten it (except for the 3rd Game Boy game). I've also beaten Shredder's Revenge.
Since there was a period of time where I got a lot of messages from Palestinian people:
- I am willing to reblog posts if I get a request to do so in my inbox, and *only* my inbox. Do not DM me, mention me in your own post, or make a request in the comments of one of my own posts.
-- Since people seem to be ignoring the "don't mention me in your post" part, I will now immediately block anyone who does it.
- I will not, under any circumstances, give money to strangers on the internet, nor will I ask my friends or family to do so.
- I tag all of these sorts of posts as "palestine fundraiser".
- If anyone believes I've reposted from an illegitimate account, let me know immediately and provide the reason you believe it's illegitimate. I'd prefer if you did this via my inbox, but in this case, I'll also take DMs.

An extremely rare and bizarre bug that has currently only been documented once in Mario Kart World results in Rainbow Road's course geometry not loading, while its collision remains.
This results in the track becoming essentially invisible except for objects like coins, item boxes, etc. As seen in the footage, it is still possible to race on the track if the player remembers the layout.

Mario & Luigi Brothership is quickly entering my list of games I enjoy replaying more than I did going into it blind.
I guess the wonky pacing of the start (up to the first Great Lighthouse) isn't as big of an issue when I already know what it's like in advance? I hope that also ends up being true of the endgame...
...though it could also just be that I'm playing it on Switch 2. I remember the load times being super annoying during my original playthrough.
...also, would it be a hot take to say that this might be the best that the main cast has ever looked in 3D?

Okay, so looking at the Bananza set in the DK Challenge, it seems I'm going to have to play through the game again... and then beat its hardest challenge without any Skills.
Turns out that loading a beaten file just gives you the story-related challenges immediately, which meant this didn't take as long as I thought it would. I just ended up putting it off for a while.
I am now officially and legally good at Donkey Kong games, something which I'll have to remember to put on my résumé.
With the recent release of Donkey Kong 64 for Nintendo Switch Online, more players have discovered the Beaver Bother minigame and its infamous reputation for being unfairly difficult. The image in this post presents a method (the "60° Rule") used by Donkey Kong 64 speedrunners to consistently succeed at this minigame.
The object of Beaver Bother is to play as a Klaptrap crocodile enemy who needs to corral a preset number of Gnawty beaver enemies into a hole before time runs out. Pressing B makes the Klaptrap gnash its teeth and make the Gnawties run away briefly. During this scared state the Gnawties are able to fall into the hole.
However, the Gnawties often appear to run away unpredictably, giving the game its reputation. The image demonstrates how the Gnawty and Klaptrap need to be aligned for the scaring to work:
-drawing an imaginary line tangential to the hole parallel to the direction of the Klaptrap's travel, the Gnawty and Klaptrap need to be aligned so that they are both on the line that is at a 60° angle to the tangent line.
-once they are aligned like this, and the Gnawty is close enough to the hole, pressing B at that moment will actually scare it away in the correct direction to make it fall into the hole.

The final boss battle against Bowser in Super Mario Sunshine has notoriously bad collision on the crumbling platform parts that begin to fall down when Mario performs a Ground Pound on the markings around the arena, causing many players to fall through the cracks between the parts as they attempt to get back to the main platform.
However, on particularly unfortunate occasions, the collision can cause Mario to die immediately upon performing the Ground Pound, as seen in the footage. The cracks always form in the same locations; if Mario happens to be precisely aligned with one of them, he will fall through the microscopic seam without the player having any chance to do anything about it.

Okay, I was joking with that first one, but really? That sets off the censor?
I like to imagine that some kid would naturally and completely innocently use "weed" in a name meant to refer to a plant creature, and then their parents would have to explain why that's a problem when it doesn't work.
...or maybe the average child already knows what weed is? I wouldn't know.
