Ultear smirked at Jellal as he walked past her, her eyes watching him intently without moving her head as she sized him up as well. He may have felt appreciative of her body but the feeling was mutual. After the work was done, the walked back through where they came, and Jellal was reminded what he did before. “Thank you for your hand work as always Ultear, I suppose I should reward you in some way,” he addressed her with a chuckle, walking on ahead teasingly.
There was a sense of accomplishment associated with knowing that she had been helping Jellal overcome his apprehensions and emotional obstacles. When he smiled a genuinely happy smile, she knew that he was finally coping with his past. It was just amusing that he was adapting to her unique way of showing her affections. “I suppose we shall,” she answered quietly, mischievous glint in her eyes as he summoned his ultimate attack.
That tone, it was unmistakable. He was playing coy. Oh how the tables had turned, and it only spurred Ultear on to up her game. “Oh, you are quite welcome Jellal. I’m sure you can find some way to repay me,” she purred back, eyes watching intently as he continued onward ahead of her.
Quickly taking his eyes from her curves, Ash replied with a look of mild confusion. “Uh, that depends. Do you mean as far as countries go, or worlds? I normally wouldn’t take the second into account, but if you don’t know you’re in Anima—this country—then I sincerely doubt that you’re from Remnant. A dark name for a world, I know.”

She never really expected him to have a solution. Ultear more so was just trying to figure where she actually was. Looking around, almost as if she were ignoring his words, the Time Mage sighed heavily with annoyance over any other emotion. “Yes, well, there is no point in fretting over things that are out of my control. While I do appreciate your insight, I do find it somewhat troublesome that I am not familiar with this world. This is a a first for me...”

“No, we are not lions. But there have been times where we have acted quite… animalistic…” His annoyance and irritation was more than evident as she continued playing, her hands starting to wander over his upper body slowly.
Knowing that they balanced one another kept Ultear placated most days. Even if Jellal had a tendency of boring her, he took her attitude and efforts in stride and tolerated her. So she had to keep a positive attitude when it came to their relationship. “You are very welcome.”
“Yes, I am well aware of that, we tend to bring it out of each other,” Jellal admitted while trying to hide a small smirk. The timing at times with that aside, he appreciated it more than was willing to let Ultear know for now. She brought him out of his shell so to speak, and in turn he subconsciously tolerated her antics out of boredom at times, amused by them as well.
“We are still technically out in public, Ultear.” He reminded her as her teasing continued to escalate. though his body language was saying the opposite. Yeah, it was best if they had to take things further, to continue it more privately for their own benefit, and others around them too.
She saw straight through the facade. The smirk, the tone, the comment: it all told her that he was having an internal battle with admitted what he knew was true and what he hoped was true. “Indeed we do. And it makes life more enjoyable, to say the least. I can tell it does for you especially.”
Cocking her head to the side and feigning confusion, her hands refused to halt. “Oh? Are we now? Well, what do you know? We certainly are. Fancy that,” she teased again, one hand slipping under the collar of his shirt as her grin widened. If there was one thing Ultear severely lacked it was shame. The woman had little to no shame when it came to most things, especially her PDA and appropriate behavior with Jellal. Most times he had to stop her from misbehaving and figure out ways of placating her enough to postpone the fun and games. “Oh Jellal, you know that being in public means nothing to me.”

“I am happy to hear that,” Jellal replied while continuing to hold his brightened smile for her, closing his eyes briefly to better feel her affections for him again. They were both redeemed monsters, that deserved love and to be happy too. It was time he put the past including Erza behind him, and move forward into his future with Ultear, it would be great to get Erza’s blessing too..
“One day, and I will take solace in the fact that you will not know when.” He added with a smug look on his face, showing that rare mischievous side that probably grew from Ultear’s influence. He intended to surprise her the best way he could, and he was going to enjoy her subtly squirm meanwhile in waiting.
Knowing how much they had suffered, healed, learned, and grew together, Ultear couldn’t help but feel adoration and comfort in Jellal’s presence. They had literally been through hell and back together, so it was to be expected that they would have such a bond and commitment to one another. Ultear struggled with one factor that would always be present thought: Erza. She knew how much she meant to Jellal and he to her, but it was made clear that he had every intention to move forward instead of dwelling on his past.
“Oh really now? Seems like you’ve learned well from my own antics. Damn it,” she cursed, not really amused by the sudden aired of torment coming from her lover. Seeing that smug expression was rare, and the mischief in his eye was even more so. Ultear absolutely adored it when he shared his more extroverted side. “How rude of you to use my own skills against me, Jellal. So naughty.”

Hearing the teasing about her past tendencies only resulted in a sigh and shift of her stance. “Scheming? No. Reflecting and observing? Definitely,” she answered plainly while walking over to join Jellal by the window. He would never let her live it down that she had almost destroyed the world on multiple occasions via her manipulation and plotting.
“Just wondering if you were thinking about the tower yet again. You always get this look on your face when you start to think about it…” Her expression changed back to the smirk and amusement she held before, wondering if he would ever feel like he could move on and let it all go. They had done plenty of hunting and defeating of dark guilds, but their work was never done. Not as long as there were Zeref sympathizers and extremists still roaming about.
Jellal could not help but chuckle softly some at her response, in some ways Ultear did not change since their council days together, trying to out manipulate each other back then aside. But he could sense the shift of the atmosphere between them as she walked closer to him, she could already guess what he was thinking with just one glance, and so he wondered how his face could be such a open book to read that easily.
“I suppose the eyes are the windows to the soul after all, but then again, it has always been hard to hide anything from you, Ultear.” He closed his eyes and smile gently at the fact, she saw right through him as always. “I was, every time we take down another dark guilt, I am reminded of the tower I made the others complete for my ambitions back then.”
To this day, he did not blame Ultear for manipulating him the whole time. For her to be able to do that, he had to also agree with he deep down, that was how he was rationalising things anyway. “I assume you do not, you played a minor role in that after all.” Jellal added with a faint smile, he would not blame Ultear for his own actions, but was not as ignorant to say she played no part at all.

Seeing Jellal relax and actually smile caused Ultear to sigh contentedly and stare out the window with a nod. “Indeed, they are. And you are also correct by saying that. I know you better than most people do, Jellal. We’ve been in each other’s lives for so long.” He only affirmed her assumptions with his answer. “I know you were. I could see it on your face.”
Slowly her hand crept closer to his as it hung at his side, grazing over the back gently as if to signify a comforting action. She would always feel terrible for what she’d done in the past, but so would he. That was one thing that definitely kept them close: their guilt. “We played our own roles, but we also played a role as one. But all we can do is atone for it, learn from it, and move forward Jellal.” Another smile curled on her ruby lips as he tried to reassure her and comfort her with her words.
