perseide au but annabeth isn’t erased from the myths after her and her mother’s passing. She goes on to inspire multiple characters (leia, odette (swan princess), dare i say sleeping beauty, animated and live action, etc.)
and then of course the usually disney character botch, where sofia is used as the right hand woman for hercules, a passing fling introduce in the animated show as the show often used prominent female figures from the myths as love interests, or the love interest he ends up with instead of meg. then of course this ends up starting a pattern in modern media of using Sofia Perseide as the ultimate love interest instead of Perse Athenide because the media love to portray Apollo and Perse as these perfect loving parents that are perhaps a bit too protective of their daughter.
Oh there are definitely characters inspired after Sofia Perseide including, but not not limited to: young Leia (older Leia is 100% Perseleia but Kenobi series Leia is Sofia inspired), Sophie from mama Mia (Perse is Donna in this verse) , Odette, Sofia the First, live action sleeping beauty , Dana Scully from x files and Buffy Summers
But no one can pin point why these characters share commonalities or feel like they’re based off someone they should know. Sofia (Annabeth) inspires so much but she’s denied the acknowledgment that they are based off her. Only her family and the gods remember her because while she was a daddy’s girl she was her mother’s daughter and men didn’t want to believe the Athenide had a child herself outside of the aide she gave to others. After all Perseleia was a virgin goddess, and while Sofia wasn’t made through a loss of that she didn’t become something great like others did. She didn’t become an Olympian, and her stories weren’t grand enough for some people. Her role was diminished until she stopped entering the narrative all together.
Hercules the animated series bastardizes a bit of her birth myth in the Dream Date episode. Galatea may be modeled after Perse but the statue was way too close to home for Apollo. There’s other episodes where characters are representing Sofia, for example Helen of Troy. Maybe they add a character in the episode with Theseus but even then they do her DIRTY.
But in stories that have two loving parents and a daughter most of the time Apollo and Perse are the parents: Hotel Transylvania (Mavis is Sofia and the parents are Apollo and Perse), Mulan, Tangled the Series (because the movie is Perse 100%), Bob’s Burgers (she’s Louise), The Incredibles.
So Sofia DOES inspire characters, but no one can ever truly connect it back to her because history is told by the victors and if Apollo wouldn’t let Rome have his daughter no one could. Rome made sure to destroy any mention or indication of Sofia Perseide sans Libertas and even then she wasn’t one of their major gods.
I don’t know if that makes sense? It’s kinda like that meme, “I’ve forgotten your face”
