Erwan Chevet is photographed with striking simplicity: bare shoulders, a calm expression, and a delicate net veil drawn across the face like a second layer of light and shadow. The contrast between the model’s clean, traditionally masculine features and this almost ceremonial accessory gives the portrait its quiet tension.
Fashion often becomes most expressive when it borrows freely from different gendered traditions. Here, delicacy does not cancel masculinity; it makes the image more complex, elegant, and open to interpretation. That freedom from fixed visual rules is part of what gives the portrait its subtle queer resonance.

A week in black and white
Lately, I’ve had a strong urge to fill this space with something simple, quiet, and unexpectedly sensual.
For the rest of the week, I’ll be sharing a series of minimalist black-and-white portraits of men and male couples — images shaped by light, gesture, distance, closeness, and composition. I’m drawn to the way monochrome photography removes distraction and makes every expression, shadow, and touch feel more deliberate.
This series is also about queer visibility through an artistic lens: not loud or overstated, but elegant, intimate, and fully present.
Trying to look at the trainers, honestly
This JW Anderson x Diadora campaign image is technically about the reimagined Equipe trainer, but the styling makes it very hard to focus only on the shoes. Shot by Sammy Khoury, the image turns a heritage sportswear collaboration into something more physical and fashion-charged: green shorts, a grey tank, a low pose and a kind of casual confidence that shifts athletic imagery into a softer, more sensual register. It is not explicitly LGBTQI+ themed, but it fits easily within a queer fashion mood where sportswear, body language and gender-fluid styling do most of the talking.

Pop music as gender theatre
Dorian Electra is one of those artists who is as interesting to look at as they are to listen to. Their music lives somewhere between hyperpop, performance art and camp spectacle, but the visual world is just as important: pastel hair, theatrical makeup, futuristic fabrics and a constant remix of gender codes. What makes Dorian so compelling is how deliberately artificial everything feels—in the best way. Beauty, masculinity, softness, irony and excess all become part of the same queer pop language.

Whisper, kiss, or vertigo
Nothing is known about the source of this image, but its atmosphere is immediate. The extreme close-up leaves almost no context, only skin, breath and the charged space between two faces. It could be a whisper, a kiss about to happen, or the dizzy second when closeness makes the rest of the room disappear. A kiss held in black and white
From AMI Paris’ Pride 2020 campaign with GLAAD, this image captures a kiss so careful it almost feels suspended. Amit Israeli’s black-and-white photography strips the scene down to breath, skin and the quiet space between two faces. The tenderness is understated, but the emotional charge is immediate—especially knowing the campaign was created during a year when Pride parades were cancelled and public celebration had to find more intimate forms.
