Don't call me skinny
"Hey Key! You look so skinny!!! OMG you look so great!" First of all I've always looked great, never once have I ever viewed myself as anything other than a beautiful human. But, apparently you did?
Calling me skinny isn't a compliment. I never wanted to be skinny, I wanted to be healthy. Skinny does not equal health. When you combined those two statements you promote the antiquated belief that skinny equals pretty.
It does not.
Tell me I look happy and energized. Becase I am. The change in my diet has helped my energy levels, I'm moving more, I'm getting that heart rate up, I'm enjoying the sunshine. I'm happy. Tell me my skin is glowing and clear....do you know how much water and nothing else I've been drinking!? I didn't cut my burrito habit so i could fit I the skinny cool kids club. And Lets be honest... a size 12/14 with a big ass, wide hips, thick thighs and ample bust is anything but skinny.
Put some Mac sauce on it.
It makes me uncomfortable and I guess that's my own baggage. Did I mention the opening line was only part of a conversation, of three?
"I know it hasn't been that long but you look super skinny!" she exclaimed, before turning to the other girl in the room and casually throwing her an afterthought of, "and you look great too..." . Now her feelings are hurt. Her hungry ass, point counting, 5 days at the gym self is hurt. And this bitch just saw me with cheeseburgers!
I was the fat friend, always the recipient of the " let me say something nice " complement so I know what she felt in that moment. And let me say, stop with those. Just stop. Stop. I guess that's the baggage from earlier...
You really want to compliment me? Just tell me you like whatever piece of Star Wars clothing I'm wearing, while laughing at my GOT jokes.
