i just think it's so fucking meaningful how we know alex hates in ear monitors and is always taking them off during the shows bc they bother him but then you may ask yourself why does he even goes through the trouble of putting them on anyway? and you remember that he has to bc it's up to him more than anyone else up there to ensure that everything is sailing smoothly so he begrudgingly accepts his fate. but THEN. you remember that during eycte he didn't wear his ear monitors even once (1), when miles wore them for every single show, and you put together that this was alex (self proclaimed control freak) giving up half of the control and the responsibility to miles bc he can rely on him and felt comfortable trusting him to ensure that the show is going well. i bet that half the time he couldn't even hear what was going on up there but it didn't matter. the vibes were good and miles was happy so so was he! it wasn't a job, he must've been so relieved to not be the sole pilot of the ship and the main center of attention for a change, he'd just strut on stage to dance and sip his drink and be silly and cuddle his best friend. what a small but significant revelation
