I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things

In Fullmetal Alchemist, at Maes Hughes's funeral, Mustang comments how "it's a horrible day for rain" despite the sunny weather, as an excuse for his tears. That in itself is great, and is a good moment between Roy and Riza. However, you can't take it further. Throughout the show it is commented on how Mustang is useless in the rain. The rain and sprinklers are the only two times Mustang is limited and not a powerhouse.
