Because RG as a pairing exists for the sole benefit of Oscar, Ruby doesn't get anything out of it. That's why everything about the pairing is Oscar-centric. Nothing in the ship is equal. Ruby does all the heavy lifting, and only Oscar benefits. Rg fans operate under the belief that Oscar benefits Ruby just by existing, his presence is a gift. Oscar has a crush, and that means that Ruby should date him, he's earned it.

Just like with Summer or Winter in relation to Hummingbird or Snowbird, the most important aspect of the pairing is how one half of the ship, Qrow, is benefiting or developing. Or rewarding them for good behavior or character development. While the other half is more or less an accessory in service to the focus character. Or a trophy.

This is why Ruby's feelings, or more specifically her lack of romantic feelings or interest is never brought up. Because her feelings in regards to the ship, and her character largely isn't really a factor. She's just there for Oscar to admire, or pine for, or get comforted by. If rg fans actually cared about Ruby's feelings, they wouldn't push it so hard, because Ruby has no romantic interest in Oscar.

Oscar overhearing ruby saying she likes to eat when she's sad, and making a casserole when they're in Argus and he knows she's still stressed?

Ruby always being the one to go out of her way to cheer Oscar up?

Oscar worrying about ruby even when he's the one in trouble?

Ruby seeing the vision of Oscar's death and that being the thing that convinces her she's just not enough to keep them safe? His death?

We have ZERO confirmation on how the other feels about the other. Like early seasons Yang/Blake. Fill in the blanks of Ur post with Blake and Yang and it's literally exactly how everyone sounded back in the day too. "This ship exists for Blake. Yang gets nothing from this dynamic. Nothing in the ship is equal, Yang does all the heavy lifting, Blake never makes an attempt." High-key stupid FR.

On that same note, why do you have to justify a romance? Why does a relationship have to exist for a purpose? Why do you feel as though anybody has to gain or lose in any dynamic? Why are you treating the concept of love and affection as though it's some form of capital that you need to break even on?

Boiling down all of the ships you mentioned to characters being "accessories" to the another is stupid! Obviously the energetic/extroverted/bossy character is more often going to be depicted dragging along/bombarding/doting on the other! That's how dynamics work? Welcome to writing 101

Also you don't need to justify not liking a ship. Trying to take a holier than thou stance on a ship is literally the saddest thing in the world. Just say you don't like it. Stop thinking about it if you don't like it nobody needs to hear your badly thought out and justified deconstruction of a ship you're clearly biased against.

Like. Canonically he's younger than Theodore, who's in his mid-late 40s (I'd wager early-mid 40s based on looks but still). So at the oldest, Ozpin is in his early 40s, maybe mid-late 30s at the youngest.

So like. He's around the same age as STRQ?? Meaning he likely got his Huntsman license, at the youngest, at 17 years old and likely became a professor and then HEADMASTER not long after that.

It's repeatedly said that Ozpin was a child prodigy (something he actually shares with Pyrrha, an interesting parallel). And honestly I just... who got him into that position?? I HIGHLY doubt that the previous Oz had something set in place for the next Oz to get into such a powerful position, bc pressuring such a young teenager is not something that's in their character (unless the KoV specifically was like that, but we don't know anything abt him).

I doubt Ozpin, as a KID who wasn't even finished with the merge yet, wanted to be Headmaster (he stated repeatedly he was in Oscars place; scared, confused, and not wanting the responsibility that comes with the merge).

Maybe there were descendants of the King of Vales own inner circle that got Ozpin into that position? If so, that's pretty fucked up ngl.
