I get that this is just ignorance but my mans legit raised 140k for the trevor project, an lgbt+ charity that (among other things) acts as a suicide hotline. I get that dream is the new popular thing that we're all slapping controversies to, but for fucks sake he can't even donate to charity without people twisting the situation to make him out to be a dickhead for it.
he's been streaming once or twice a month for like half a year, he didn't have to clarify to the people already following him that he would be following the same schedule he has been this entire time. people trying to twist this like he specifically was trying to matrix dodge out of donating to charity is just deranged. what Possible benefit could that have?
this isn't even the usual "he's doing it for clout" accusation, this is spreading the idea that he just specifically went out of his way to light himself on fire, and for what? the detail about donations being turned off (trying to imply that he didn't donate At All) is completely fabricated. he did the two streams a month that's been his Regular Schedule For Months, he did several podcasts, and in the end he raised a Not Insignificant Amount Of Money for lgbt+ suicide prevention and we're just gonna act like this was some bizarre anti-pr stunt where he dangled the Idea of donating to the gays and then had a good laugh once he ripped it away like some cartoon villain.
like I'm sorry the 21 year old with a full time job that involves managing over 30 people on top of his own personal projects "only" had the time to raise 140k, 50k of it coming Out Of Pocket, guess we get to flay and quarter him in public for bothering to make the effort in the first place [Link]
