Nobody asked but I’m gonna answer.
A: I love Shiomi Yoru.
A: I’m not gonna defend her. You will not be hearing “in a different world she would be a good mother to Ryōshū” from me because I don’t care. She shouldn’t have to be a good mother to be liked.
A: Even in the mirror world she would still have her edges, being occasional cruel and throwing out harsh words to Ryōshū. She would be too prideful to apologise.
A: Shiomi would never let herself cry even in private.
A: I don’t like when people sexualise her.
A: I do like Valenyoru but it’s not canon to me or anything. I like both of these characters alone and I don’t feel a need to put them together all the time.
A: Shiomi would have the same biology as Ryōshū. In my headcanon she is transfem. She wanted to bear a child as a woman but everything about that process was non consensual so now she resents Ryōshū for being born.
A: Ironically Ryōshū is the only thing keeping her alive. Even if she wants to die, that child always tie her down here, which is why she keeps hurting Ryōshū and making her kill her own mother. I’m sure Ryōshū would have wanted to love her too if Shiomi wasn’t so insistent on not wanting to be loved.
A: Shiomi will always be physically abusive to Ryōshū because she was raised in physical violence as well. It was once out of ignorance, like “I thought that was just the way of life.” But even after knowing she shouldn’t hit her own child, she felt envious if Ryōshū gets to grow up without bruises so she doesn’t really feel guilt either way.
A: I know Valencina is dilf af but I think of the two of them, she would be the more motherly one to Ryōshū while Shiomi is just a divorced father that they see every once in a while. That’s the best case scenario for the three’s relationship. Not that I think Valencina should have full time custody but she would definitely win that settlement.
Follow up on that idea: I think initially Shiomi would be pissed like “The court is clearly biased against me because I’m not a cis woman.” and go home tearing her backrooms apart. But after a while she will be happier knowing Ryōshū is no longer suffering from her. Enjoying single life without any tether, finally.
