Colectivos are an interesting phenomenon, they can range in many ways, from function, some are nothing more than an effective neighborhood watch program by a local commune. Some function as their own political organizations, Tupmaro is a communist movement with 7 members in the federal legislature, some groups have educational and schooling activities

Their immense width in varying activities, sizes and amount of oversight and administration leads to some groups overlapping with the criminal world, but overall colectivos represent community and community action as well as community safety.
